    Sherrod Brown, the wife beater.
Larke Brown lobbed damaging accusations against Sherrod, then the Ohio Secretary of State, in her 1986 complaint for divorce:

"Plaintiff further states that Defendant has been guilty of gross neglect of duty and extreme cruelty toward her, by reason of which Plaintiff is entitled to an absolute divorce."

"I am also intimidated by the Defendant and am in fear for the safety and well-being of myself and our children due to the Defendant’s physical violence and abusive nature," Larke Brown wrote in her affidavit requesting a restraining order, dated May 12, 1986.

A judge in the Court of Common Pleas of Franklin County, Ohio, granted Larke Brown a restraining order from the future senator, according to a document dated May 12, 1986.

Sherrod Brown disputed his wife’s claims, saying in his counterclaim for divorce, dated June 10, 1986, that he "has never been abusive or violent with Wife or anyone else."

The seven-count restraining order barred Sherrod Brown from harassing Larke in person or over the phone, selling or disposing of the couple’s assets, changing beneficiaries or cashing out life insurance policies on Larke or their children, and from "coming in or around the Plaintiff’s residence … except for purposes of visitation with the parties’ minor children."

Larke claimed that Brown violated the restraining order when he visited her residence to pick up their children, according to an October 1986 affidavit:

"[Brown] refused to return to the car, pushed me up against the wall with his arms in order to pass and entered the house. He refused to leave and began to say insulting, derogatory things about me, my mothering of the children and my character in front of my friends and the children … [Brown] then cornered one of my friends … and again started on his tirade of character assassination. … [I] felt physically threatened because of [Brown’s] combative tone and his assault on [me] at the entrance to the house."

    Larke’s affidavit continues:

"He has struck and bullied me on several different occasions, he has completely destroyed my peace of mind and I am extremely intimidated by him … [Brown] has embarked on a course of conduct designed to destroy the children’s peace of mind by making slanderous and defamatory remarks about [me] to them, as well as insisting that they repeat untruthful things that [Brown] had coached them to state."

    Here
You would think that one of the first things scumbags would learn is that if you're going to be a scumbag, don't hide behind religion or anything that claims to suggest you have "family values"......but then religious belief is perhaps one of the most exploited beliefs in the history of human kind. What better way to lure the lurid than to pretend you're lily white and angelic and screwing someone's daughter, wife, girlfriend, mother, whomever.......in the name of Jesus.....or some other religious figures name?

Ironic that religion probably attracts more NON-family value predators than those with family values, because they recognize how near and dear religious belief is to some people and all they need to do is pretend to be religious and they have an instant in.

Ironic also that some religious people like to point out the immoralities of the non-religious, even as they ignore their own hypocrisies. At least those that do not run around proclaiming how "deeply" religious they are, do not look like complete hypocrites, fools and idiots because they didn't set some expectation they were religious or moral in the first place.

One last irony seems to be that there appear to be as many or more non-religious or non-vocal/non-conspicuous people with better universal and family values than those who claim to be religious and defy their religion, on a regular basis. The election of Trump was a mockery of anything having to do with family values. Yes, he has a family and he may "value" them so much, he may have controlled and still control their behavior, with money, the same way he seems to deal with anything in the world, including his recent $130,000 hush money bribe to an adult film star. If Melania has any spare change around, she might want to pay "Stormy" the same Donald did, to have her disclose. But then that would put Donald in the awkward position of having to sue "Stormy" for breach of contract. Not sure what he would hope to gain by doing so, but as mentioned, maybe someone (even Melania, with her divorce settlement from Donald) could pay "Stormy's" court costs if Donald sued her for telling the world how big of a slimeball, he really is. America might even set of a fund to pay for "Stormy's" defense.

While there may be no law against paying hush money (bribe) to keep an immoral, unethical thing one is involved in, from being talked about. How would people who are truly moral, see such a thing?

Are there any truly (mostly) moral/ethical people, left in the world?

    Does the world care?

If not, then why do waste so much time discussing them?

If so, why are immoral people, hired and elected to positions in business and government, even when we know they are immoral? What's worse, how do so many people get forced out and lose their jobs, while others, seem to face no consequence, at all?

Democrats HATE family values. That's what we're told. I'm going with it.

Wouldn't that make EVERY thread that doesn't mention domestic violence a "pro domestic violence" thread just because it isn't the main subject?

    Kind of a silly stretch.

Silly me for thinking that not beating up your wife is a family value.

    Brown is a huge disappointment.

This thread is for examples of sanctimonious "family values" positions torn asunder.

You could start a thread about sanctimonious "women's rights" positions torn asunder that would be perfect for the Brown example.

Maybe @Davocrat should just be honest about what he wants. Just say it's a thread for bashing Republicans. No one is allowed to bash his precious Democrats no matter how big a scumbag they are. It's phony partisan outrage.
