The sole purpose of this proposed meeting is to get Russia-gate and Stormy Daniels out of the headlines for a few days.

I think a few Trump golf courses might appear in N. Korea and N. Korean woman will start buying Ivanka crap.

Trump was busy at his campaign rally name calling our press and people in our own government. When the crowd booed Kim Jung Un he tried to calm the crowd down. Go figure.

    Trump is one sick bastard.

There's PLENTY of evidence of that.
Show me where he's ever raised a concern about Russian election meddling.
Show me where he's condemned Russia for going against N. Korea sanctions.
She me where he's implemented sanctions on Russia.

I can show you plenty on how he praises Russia and Putin.

His rallies look like they're staged at an insane asylum auditorium. (whites only)

This a something that bugs me about this site.

South Korea’s Presidebt Moon has spent over a decade advocating the “Sunshine Policy” and “Anytime, anywhere” negotiating policy towards North Korea. He was elected on those commitments. He singlehandedly managed to negotiate the two Korea’s Olympic teams marching together, and the joint teams in sports like women’s hockey. He then had a summit with North Korea which Kim said he would stop missile testing if he was assured of his regimes security from “regime change”. He needed that assureance from the US.

So South and North Korean officials flew to the US and had a joint press conference, publically asking for high level meetings with US officials.

So to say “Trump is doing this because he wants to distract from ...” is wrong right out of the gate.

Mr Moon did this. And it was an amazing accomplishment. It’s his summit. Even though I have a feeling North Korea is expecting “remove US military from South Korea” to be on the table.

Moon is off to China this week to continue his press.

My concern is more about American diplomatic services, the State Department seems to be rather weak, competent people leaving it and being not replaced with a president who considers that ambassadors working on the groundin countries are not bringing much. He prefers direct contacts. But, how can you deal with foreign countries without having a feedback obtained through personal relations and without building personal ties at different levels ? And how someone like Mr. Trump who has very little diplomatic experience and is ready to offer to his son in law the position of a very important advisers for many areas in the world, when this person has no real training in internaitonal relations etc..... All of that is very awkward and my fear is that the meeting between Trump and the one he does not name anymore Little Rocket Man will be a fiasco for the USA even if it offers a new stage and a media triumph for your president without substance. How can you imagine that Trump can serve the interests of the USA in this context ? Of course the South Koreans are dealing with their future and will be well prepared. But can you imagine that the North Korean president will give up his nukes ? There is no insurance for him that he will be able to stay in power, because no one can offer him from the outside anything which guarantee him, that thee North Korean society will remain as it is, if he can no more base his legitimacy on the existence foreign threats. It is all the problem with sanctions as it happened with Cuba..... In a way if they disappear how to explain to a population that it is no more the Ugly Americans who are responsible for everything which goes wrong and that terror is necessary to protect the country, to avoid themconsidering that their rulers have their own responsabiities. The worse case here is that Trump to have a success in the media accepts to pull back American troops from South Korea and against some commitments on the side of North Korea equivalent of the ones Josef Stalin made for Eastern Europe and never respected.

    I’m just reading more here.

North and South Korea had their meeting and South Koreans met with Trump to explain what happened at the meeting. The South remarked that what North Korea really wanted was the removal of US military from South Korea. They said that’s what he wants and he wants to meet the US Pres to discuss this. Trump, conpleteky unplanned and off the cuff, said “sure”. Throwing his administration into shock and chaos. Again.

To think of this as somehow of Trunps making is just plain ridiculous.

And yet a quick look at US news and voila.
