Putin is a chess player who has outsmarted even the former world chess champion Garry Kasparov.

As I said earlier, the most dangerous man in the world.

Thats why its worrisome, we are so focused on Trump (rightly so) but we dont know the backup plan. I am a fan of Kasparov as well and recall him saying to never underestimate Putin or let your guard down. I just feel if Trump is out of the picture, we will sit back and Putin strikes again totally out of the blue.

Also, its certainly conspiracy theory stuff, but check out how there hasnt really been any terrorist attacks in Europe or anywhere lately of any magnitude. One has to wonder if there isnt some Russian connection to those as well to stir up fear before an election when things dont go his way.

Now, true, Vladimir Putin certainly had good reasons to loathe Hillary Clinton. After his abrupt seizure of the Crimean Peninsula, Hillary started comparing Vladimir Putin to Adolf Hitler. You may have noticed that most people are not fond of being compared to Adolf Hitler. And, in truth, that kind of rhetoric from Hillary was just a tad bit overheated. [Don't you think?]

But Putin and the Russians wanted Trump for over-riding reasons, for reasons MUCH more important than that.

The Russian economy is almost totally dependent on exports of fossil fuels. And there is about as much chance of the Russian economy transforming away from that in the next few decades as there is of a Central American banana republic/plantation economy becoming a dynamic high-tech computerized economy in the same time frame.

Believe me, the Russians are just positively and overwhelmingly delighted to have an American President who denies the reality of man-made climate change sitting in the Oval Office. THAT is what they wanted. THAT is what they got. THAT is what they were celebrating on Election Night. THAT is what they were popping champagne corks about.

The very LAST thing the Russians want to see is an America leading the world forward into an era of a world economy founded on renewable energy resources, primarily solar and wind, augmented by advances in energy storage technologies.

All of that would totally UNDERMINE the current Russian economy. Leaving them WHERE, exactly? As a backward, Third World economy.

    Now you know.
In case you hadn't noticed the world and the USA are investing plenty in non fossil fuel technology. We just didn't sign up to an agreement that would stick it in our ass. Just in my little neighborhood , solar panels on homes are going up all over. They don't need Trump to invest or not invest in alternatives.

Europe is Russia's primary customer of their oil and gas. They are already heavy into alternatives.

Trump is a Dinosaur ...just like the coal he loves. Well he really doesn't love coal, he loves the appearance of being a coal supporter.
China is well known for dumping prices to kill off competition and well known for stealing technology. WE have been on the stupid side of trade with China.

LOL Same old same old after the OP disappeared for 6-months or so, still stuck on that TDS. Still sowing dissent, as if a Russian-bot, which is all this is about, sowing dissent. Hmmm? Joined January 2016, and over 26,000(!) posts, even after taking a vacation of 6-months or so. Yes, that is how the Russians would work, keep the lie going about Trump/Russia collusion to keep Americans at each other. Hey, just saying what I observe.

Anyway, we just killed, maimed, and wounded 300+ Russians in Syria few weeks back, shouldn't you be celebrating?

Which probably is why Merkel and Macron congratulated Putin as well. They know any sort of world peace or at least, world calm is dependent on Russia.

Trump's budget calls for about a 40% slash in funding for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), which is just down the road from me in Golden, Colorado. Even Colorado's Republican Senator, Cory Gardner, thinks that is just plain stupid. And it is.

    Please try to keep informed.
