Yeah, you know, I started an entire thread on this shortly before I took an extended hiatus from this place. It was more like eight or nine months, than six months.

As Øbama congratulated Putin after Putin won in 2012, and 17-days later came the hot-mic remark about "more flexibility".

lol... that is why Trump is pro Keystone Pipeline, fracking, offshore drilling, and now talking about sending natural gas to Western Europe.

OP... explodered hugely to the biggestest extent.

It was Øbama who placed federal lands off limits to fracking. Trump has reversed that. Trump was more than outspoken about standing firm on our energy policy, as was Øbama though in the opposite direction. Had Øbama the ability he would have wrecked fracking on state and private lands. In fact, without that fracking on state and private lands the dreadful Øbama economy that averaged 1.55% would have been even worse.

And you, too, are helping to make EXACTLY my point. Just like Crusher, and just like Trump, you both WANT America to remain STUCK in a 19th century fossil fuel based economy.

Wake up, fellas. It is the 21st century. Time to move on. To 21st century energy sources.

That's happening despite who is in the WH. Agreeing to an agreement that puts us on the short end doesn't fix anything.

So what are you complaining about? Innovation keeps going, industry follows. New inventions make the old obsolete. What does this have to do with Trump / Russia?

Sigh. Because Trump is doing his DAMNEDEST to slow it down. And he CAN slow it down. By doing STUPID things, like slashing the research budget and firing scientists at the National Renewal Energy Laboratory. I explained all that. Are you just kinda slow on the uptake? And by slowing it down, it helps Putin.
    Thanks from Babba

Now, true, Vladimir Putin certainly had good reasons to loathe Hillary Clinton. After his abrupt seizure of the Crimean Peninsula, Hillary started comparing Vladimir Putin to Adolf Hitler. You may have noticed that most people are not fond of being compared to Adolf Hitler. And, in truth, that kind of rhetoric from Hillary was just a tad bit overheated. [Don't you think?]

But Putin and the Russians wanted Trump for over-riding reasons, for reasons MUCH more important than that.

The Russian economy is almost totally dependent on exports of fossil fuels. And there is about as much chance of the Russian economy transforming away from that in the next few decades as there is of a Central American banana republic/plantation economy becoming a dynamic high-tech computerized economy in the same time frame.

Believe me, the Russians are just positively and overwhelmingly delighted to have an American President who denies the reality of man-made climate change sitting in the Oval Office. THAT is what they wanted. THAT is what they got. THAT is what they were celebrating on Election Night. THAT is what they were popping champagne corks about.

The very LAST thing the Russians want to see is an America leading the world forward into an era of a world economy founded on renewable energy resources, primarily solar and wind, augmented by advances in energy storage technologies.

All of that would totally UNDERMINE the current Russian economy. Leaving them WHERE, exactly? As a backward, Third World economy.

    Now you know.
I think they were intrigued about manipulating a stupid population to put a moron (not my word) they could control into the White House.
