No, there were no 300 Russians there. Couple dozen, at most. But, by all means, keep repeating that idiotic propaganda lol

No where near 300 and they were MERCENARIES. Who gives a fuck about them no matter what country they might have been born in?
They were NOT Russian government troops.

Don't give a rat's ass about "memes". Were they fucking mercenaries or not?

Nor were all of them, likely, even born in Russia The Wagner group includes folks from Belarus, Ukraine (and not just Donbass, in fact, I read at least one anonymous interview with a Wagenrite, East Ukrainian, who, apparently, met guys in Syria, Ukrainians, from Lvov and Kiev, guys he had fought AGAINST back in Donbass ), all over ex-USSR. And Serbs too. Just riffraff from all over that entire part of the world...

    Update:

Well, it sounds like Trump's as good as sent missiles, according to his usual rhetoric......and instead of calling his pal Putin on the phone and saying, look, you and the people of Russia don't want to be associated with helping Assad and his use of chemical weapons, do you? Help me get to the bottom of whether Assad is truly the one doing this and if he is, use your aid to him as leverage to get him to stop using chemical weapons that the whole world is going to also connect to you and Russians, by continuing to help him.

That might be what a sane person would do.

Trump? He's gotta prove to someone he's "tough" even if it means pissing off, China, N. Korea and now pushing towards a war with Russia.

It's little wonder that today's "conservatives" (neos) do not like a peace keeping organization like the UN....... Many of them having opted out of signing up and going where the kind of wars they are all gung ho to get involved in, seem to feel a need to show someone they're "tough" by true to form, sending others off, to do their fighting or putting their entire nation in danger, by playing chicken with other super powers who already have nukes, like we do.

The UN is a derivative of an organization that was formed to try prevent war from spreading to affect people who surround, but have no interest or dog in the fight of a neighboring conflict and only have an interest in not taking part. The best way to prevent this, is to try to prevent the breakout of war in the first place. Peace, seems to rub chickenhawks the wrong way. Perhaps because looking for peaceful resolutions doesn't allow them to try to make someone (as opposed to those people that know otherwise) believe they're "tough". Sad that in my experience and the shared experience of many, some of the "toughest" talking people seem to be those that skipped out or took a pass when their chance to prove just how tough they really (meaning in reality) they really were and the seem to be trying to make up for it, fooling themselves and maybe a few others.

The truly tough people I know, had and have no reason at all to try to prove to someone they were/are tough, they already proved it with real actions and with putting their own lives on the line, they had no reason to prove to anyone they were tough, they were tough because of what they did and they had no need or desire to talk about it, recognizing it was tough for them as it is for all who experience it, to see and do, what they did. To most of them, wounding others or taking another human's life, even in defense, is not something they feel is particularly something to be proud of.

Vladimir Shamanov, former Russian general and commander of the Airborne Troops, and now a member of the Duma, the parliament, head of the national defense committee, just reassured Russians on TV

He says there is a dialogue on Syria between the US and Russian military respective general staffs, and the situation will be resolved peacefully. The people are to relax, live their lives, and not worry

We shall see. I hope this is true...

Last I checked - Russia was threatening to respond with force if America bombed Syria. So I'm not sure how this is going to be peacefully resolved.

It wasn't this administration that threw down a red line in regards to the Syrian dictator using chemical weapons. It was the Obama administration - which as I'm sure you remember cowardly retreated from its own threat. Trump didn't - at least not previously.

So I don't believe it's far to criticize the Trump administration for being hard headed in this instance simply for bringing credibility back to the United States and backing up our tough talk with action.

Fire Rosenstein, or Sessions? Or even better blame Mueller and fire him?

Nah. My money is on Trump bombing Syria to change the subject and vent his anger.
A lot of people are lining up on that notion of bombing Syria including democrats. CNN will always dominate the news with Trump. Erin Burnett ..45 minutes on Trump 5 min on Syria. Always in a negative tone. Always! She is pathetic.

It's time for this administration to open up an investigation into Clinton emails and Uranium One, FBI collusion to cover Hillary. and hit it as hard as Mueller is doing to Trump. Going on an endless fishing trip, raids and subpoenas. You dig long and hard , you will find something to indict.

I am sure Shamanov is privy to all kinds of information, in his position, that neither I nor any average Russian would be.

Both Trump and Putin have electorates that expect them to talk touch in such situations. Doesn't mean either of them will actually do anything that cannot be undone. Again, I hope so. I don't think either of them are that stupid...
