Question Is This A True Statement?

Mitch McConnell: I think the strike [ordered by Trump] was well-planned, well-executed, was certainly more than a pinprick and sends a message not only to Assad that using chemical weapons again is something he cannot do with impunity, but I think it also reassures our Sunni Arab allies that America is back in terms of playing a leadership role and trying to be constructive in a variety of different places around the world, as well as a message to Iran and North Korea and the Russians that America intends to lead again. So I commend the president for this decision. I think itís entirely correct.

Who knows? He's only saying what he feels. It would be hard to prove that he's lying, if he is.

That said, I am of the opinion that he'd have said that he felt really good about what Trump had done, no matter what he'd done.

I'm surprised there's been so few replies to McConnell's quote from the right. Perhaps they know it's from over a year ago.

They might also know (or not) about McConnell's reference to "our Sunni allies".

Perhaps they are also aware that the message sent last year, via missile attacks, did nothing to prevent this most recent attack and they don't want to talk about that.

Have to admit, I didn't even consider that possibility.

I'm generally opposed to the political positions of the Republican Party and/or U.S. Senator McConnell and I'm not a fan of our current president, Donald Trump.

The expressed motives for the military strike upon Syria was to specifically punish Syrian military using chemical weapons. Additionally, Syrian armed forces apparently purposely aimed their weapons particularly upon civilians.

I'm pleased that we acted in concert with France and the United Kingdom and regret that we were unable to at least appear to be acting with greater approval of the world's remainder of nations. But regardless of my opinion that this attack grants our three nations more credibility when we negotiate or confront other nations less than amiable to us. The attack was not meant, and did not obtain wealth or resources for us.

The attack upon Syrian military targets put us on the side of the angels and I'm pleased by what was done. It evokes concepts such as decency, humanity, and morality; these are words that I do not generally associate with myself, or Donald Trump, or with international politics.

    Respectfully, Supposn

Mitch McConnell is a GOP lap dog. He can careless what gains or problems Trump's symbolic weak gesture has. He has to say something more than...I don't care what Trump does.

If Trump's action has any affect, it would had that affect and message the last time.

The TV show president got a jump in ratings. His fans are giddy.
