    With a federal gun registry in place, it would be a fairly simple matter to figure out how criminals are getting their hands on guns, and put the choke on those conduits. It would be a long-term solution, since it wouldn't affect guns already in circulation, but implemented today, it would yield major results in 20-30 years.

    I think they'd have to go out of state, but that's not too difficult.
