The problem you guys have (on both sides)
Is that science, and facts don't seem to matter in your political discord. Trumpests don't believe in evolution, and your left doesn't believe in gender. Thus allowing reality stars, actors and psudo intellectuals to control the message.

It would be appreciated if you'd explain what "doesn't believe in gender" means. Thanks in advance.

“Attitudes are more important than facts” - Karl Menninger

Too many people in the electorate embrace this quote. Until that changes, mountebanks like President Trump will thrive.

None whatsoever. And I don't think that any negative events that occur will get through to them, either. No matter what happens.

Trust. I'll go into shock if I'm wrong. He's their Jim Jones.

Smear is a strong word. Apologies if I offended anyone( I have brought up the same point to the transexual women that is in my employ). I'm simply saying that denying basic scientific evidence on biology dose not further political discourse. Let me be clear, I have no qualms about people being their true self, that being said the idea that there are 27 different genders(as per the state of New York) has zero basis in fact

Regarding the 27 gender identities (or 31 depending on who you ask) to my knowledge, no one is claiming that gender identities have some scientific basis, any more than they are claiming that there is a scientific basis for "macho" "girlie" or "butch". It's just a list of terms people prefer to use to describe themselves. That's why they are called gender identities, and not sexes. The trans women in your employ (sic) would have probably told you the same, had you asked.

That's almost like saying someone doesn't believe the planet Earth exists.

Mountebank! That's a good word to describe Donald Trump! I'm going to have to add that to my list of words that I frequently use to describe Trump, along with snake-oil salesman, huckster, charlatan, carnival barker, and fraud. Thanks!

By getting tied down in the minutiae of a flippant, and potentially misplaced comment I made, is sort of proving my initial point. When you get weighed down in issues that for a huge percentage of your voter base is poppycock (not my opinion) you can never come to an understanding on the things that really matter. Let me try with a different example. The left calls Trump "orange Hitler" (which is pretty funny), and the right calls Bernie an extreme socialist (which also makes me laugh because in Canada he'd be a little right of center). Diverging opinions are important, but policy is found in the middle through shared truth, and you don't hear a lot of that coming out of the states at the moment

And she agrees with me, although I still don't understand the psychological motivations, as far as public policy and space it should occupy in the public sphere we're pretty much sympatico

That is not a "fact". It's a bald-faced lie. Yet, the crowd believed it simply because that's what Trump told them. How do candidates for office contend with a voter like that?
