Almost Everything You Have Been Told About The Minimum Wage Is False

Why do democrats make a big deal about minimum wage when less than 1% of Americans over 25 make minimum wage. It is another democrat hysteria based on lies

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/jeffrey.../#5ebedd6576bc

First, people should acknowledge that this rather heated policy discussion is over a very small group of people. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics there are about 3.6 million workers at or below the minimum wage (you can be below legally under certain conditions). That is 2.5 percent of all workers and 1.5 percent of the population of potential workers. Within that small group, 31 percent are teenagers and 55 percent are 25 years old or younger. That leaves only about 1.1 percent of all workers over 25 and 0.8 percent of all Americans over 25 earning the minimum wage.

Within that tiny group, most of these workers are not poor and are not trying to support a family on only their earnings. In fact, according to a recent study, 63 percent of workers who earn less than $9.50 per hour (well over the minimum wage of $7.25) are the second or third earner in their family and 43 percent of these workers live in households that earn over $50,000 per year. Thus, minimum wage earners are not a uniformly poor and struggling group; many are teenagers from middle class families and many more are sharing the burden of providing for their families, not carrying the load all by themselves.

While Republicans and small business owners are sure to resist this push, it is important that everyone on both sides debates the issue with the correct facts.

What is pathetic is a third of Americas workers earn less than a 1968 adjusted minimum wage.

The problem with this opinion piece is that the writer chose to highlight only two sets of wages.

Those making exactly the minimum wage and those making below min wage.

What about all the millions of workers that make from .01˘ to 50˘ just above the min wage?

If Im making $7.55 an hour, aren't I making min wage. Anyone making under $8.00 an hour is making min wage.

It's a red herring tactic. What this poster and REPUBLICAN poverty level min. wage defenders never mention in their INSULTING defense is the # of Americans who make .05 or .10 or .25 more or .50 cent more or .75 more or 1.00 more or 1.25 more or 1.50 more or 1.75 more or 2.00 more or 2.25 more or all the way up to 5.00 or even DOUBLE THE MINIMUM which is stll NOT A LIVING WAGE IN 2018.

The minimum money. Something to begin with.
Think to your future or you may end an adult with no marketable skills.
May even end driving a truck. Drive it there, drive it here, unload, load up.
That will be working day the rest of your pathetic life.

So, who wants to study harder kids ?

Thank God! Not one city yet that I have heard about has shown any job loss!

PS Every penny earned for people making under $35k (or round about that) goes back into the economy IMMEDIATELY for goods and services.

    (That's an old # it's likely higher)

Yet the stats have changed little. There are very few that work for minimum wage besides his school kids and college students. Minimum wage is more of democrats showing they have nothing but their lies and fake hysteria
