Dem lawmakers seek criminal corruption probe of EPA's Pruitt

Trump would like to make this ass-clown AG. Like Trump, he believes that he is above the law and is using his position for personal gain.

Dem lawmakers seek criminal corruption probe of EPA's Pruitt
House Democrats on Friday formally requested that the Justice Department investigate Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt for potential criminal conduct.

In a letter to FBI Director Chris Wray and Justice criminal division chief John Cronan, six Democratic lawmakers with oversight of Pruitt's agency allege he repeatedly violated federal anti-corruption laws by seeking to leverage his government position for personal gain.

As evidence, the Democrats cite Pruitt's $50-a-night lease of a Capitol Hill condo tied to a lobbyist seeking to influence his agency, directing an EPA aide to contact a senior Chick-fil-A executive as part of an effort to land his family a franchise, and a $2,000 payment to his wife from organizers of a conference the administrator then attended at taxpayer expense.

Unending Pruitt controversies leave Republicans frustrated
The unending controversies surrounding Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) head Scott Pruitt are exhausting Republican lawmakers, who are calling on the administrator to get a handle on the scandals.

While many GOP lawmakers have maintained public support for President Trump's embattled EPA chief, a number of Republicans in the House and Senate are letting their criticisms ring out.

"The constant drip needs to stop so that the agency can get its footing," Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.), the chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, said Wednesday.

Judge Rules Pruitt Must Provide Evidence for his Climate Denial
Remember last March, when Pruitt’s scandal du jour wasn’t about trying to get himself a used mattress or his wife a fast food gig or wasting money on fancy pens or any of the other 10 scandals this month? Remember when all we were concerned about was how he said climate change wasn’t caused by human activity?

As it turns out, a federal judge hasn’t let herself be distracted by the increasingly outrageous revelations against Pruitt from that original concern. On Friday, US District Court judge Beryl Howell ordered the EPA to produce the evidence upon which Pruitt based his comments.

This could be a tall order, because, of course, there is no good evidence to suggest humans aren’t driving climate change. At least none solid enough to hold up in court.
But tobacco lobbyist-turned-fossil-fuel-defender-turned-shadow-EPA-admin Steve Milloy isn’t worried. He suggested on Twitter that Heartland’s climate report is all the proof Pruitt needs for the judge.

Unfortunately for Milloy, a quick Google on that report brings up all sorts of reasons why it’s not going to pass any sort of courtroom scrutiny. Despite being named after the IPCC, Heartlands Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC) report clearly lacks the credibility of its namesake. And it doesn’t take a law degree and years on the judicial bench to smell the BS: the school teachers who received the report in a mass spamming last year quickly saw through the sham.

Trump starts the morning by admitting obstruction and threatening the Inspector General
That message is: Don’t be silly. What is a position in the Trump government for, if not for personal benefit? Whether it’s a townhouse provided by lobbyists, angling a multi-million contract to friends, or a sweet billion dollar payday from a county at the center of an international shakedown … there are no laws.

Donald Trump is making it clear that for himself, and for his supporters, the law exists to be laughed at. Scott Pruitt may have played cover-all on corruption Bingo, but it hasn’t slowed one moment of his efforts to cause more damage and collect more payola. Jared Kushner may be handing over the classified lists of names to be killed to a Middle Eastern dictator … but it hadn’t kept him from being given top security clearance.

When Trump’s attorneys state that no laws apply to him, they’re not talking about theory. They’re talking about 501 days of facts on the ground.

I just can't imagine anyone getting away with what Puritt has so far. It just boggles the mind.

Scott Pruitt Faces Mounting Calls For Investigations Into Chick-fil-A Scandal
Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt is facing yet another call for a public corruption probe into his use of his office to enrich his wife.

On Monday, the American Democracy Legal Fund, a liberal watchdog group, planned to file a formal complaint with the Office of Government Ethics demanding that the agency investigate Pruitt for ordering an EPA staffer to arrange a call with the chairman of fast-food chain Chick-fil-A to discuss his wife, Marlyn Pruitt, becoming a franchisee.

The complaint, obtained by HuffPost, also cites a three-day gig Marlyn Pruitt got helping to arrange the nonprofit Concordia’s annual conference in New York last year, for which she was paid $2,000, plus travel expenses. The job came after the administrator emailed the nonprofit’s chief executive, Matthew Swift, to ask that he call his wife. American Democracy Legal Fund accused Pruitt of helping “to grease the wheels, since he also agreed to speak at the conference.”
