Trump calls SK war games provocative

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world...cid=spartanntp

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump's abrupt announcement Tuesday that he will suspend U.S. military drills in South Korea appeared to catch the Pentagon and the Seoul government flat-footed, and it contradicted a pillar of Defense Secretary Jim Mattis's campaign to make U.S. troops more combat-ready.
"We will be stopping the war games, which will save us a tremendous amount of money, unless and until we see the future negotiation is not going along like it should," Trump said in Singapore. "But we'll be saving a tremendous amount of money. Plus, I think it's very provocative." In a later interview with the Voice of America, Trump said the North Koreas were "very happy" about his decision to freeze the exercises "because it is so provocative."
So now we make military decisions based on other nations happiness?

This thread could just as easily be called, Trump ends US status as world power. Thanks for nothing, big guy.

Indeed. It appears that in his desperation for some sort of accomplishment, the president is happy to appease dictators and adopt their perspectives.

Trump is just switching sides ... taking the U.S. away from being part of the free world.

    "I think it's very provocative." D. Trump

    pro·voc·a·tive
    prəˈväkədiv/
    adjective
    adjective: provocative

causing annoyance, anger, or another strong reaction, especially deliberately.
    "a provocative article"
    synonyms: annoying, irritating, exasperating, infuriating, maddening, vexing, galling;

Well, he's correct in that regard. The bigger the response, the more he loves it.

Can a supporter(s) of Trump's please explain to me why you think it's good that we're becoming a pariah to countries in the free world that we've had alliances with for over 70 years. Alliances that have brought about the most peaceful time in history. Why is it good that he is undoing all the work that brought about all that peace?

I think a lot of them wanted "change" so they figure all new alliances are in order. I do recall someone here back in 2016 saying we should be allies with China, Russia and get more away from the EU. So I guess they like this? Burning it to the ground so to speak. If you go to right wing sites many are celebrating this.

It is isnt it? I was reading comments yesterday on a Politico article and there were a bunch saying stuff like, well Germany and Japan were our enemies 70 years ago and we changed that so why not NK? They were all basically equating it as the same. Some were even touting that NK and Russia would open up opportunities for American companies and we need to hurry and get in so we can sell stuff.

We're headed down a road that I never thought I'd see. North Koreans don't have any money and Russians aren't much better off. There are no opportunities in NK and few in Russia. And Trump is emboldened since he now knows the Republicans aren't going to do a damn thing to rein him in. An argument could be made for China since they are growing their middle class. But not NK and Russia. Holy moly. how stupid can you get?
