GOP senator says Republicans in 'cult-like situation' with Trump

(CNN)Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Bob Corker ramped up his criticism of his Republican colleagues Wednesday, railing on GOP leadership for not wanting to take on President Donald Trump on core Republican issues like trade.
"We're in a strange place. It's becoming a cultish thing, isn't it?" the Tennessee Republican told reporters. "It's not a good place for any party to have a cult-like situation as it relates to a President that happens to be purportedly of the same party."

    ya think...

Corker is specifically talking about tariffs. But, let's remember, the only Republican's being honest about the way they really feel about Trump are the ones that aren't seeking reelection.

Jeff Flake, John McCain, and Bob Corker seem to be about the only honest Republicans left, the only ones willing to speak truth to power. They are the departing Republican Senators, who are urgently trying to WARN America, and their fellow Republicans, about the very dangerous path that Donald Trump is dragging America down.

America should listen to them. Carefully.

I agree with you. However, we all know they'd be dutifully licking Trump's ass with the rest if they were seeking reelection, so I don't want to give them too much credit for their too-little, too-late words. When they had a chance to block Trump's political vandalism, they didn't.

NO there wasn't. Not even close. FANS, admirers, PATRIOTS to his cause and OUR cause, not cultists. Don't see the difference? Big surprise.

No HILLARY 'cultists' either. Unless you consider women of a certain age who lived through 6 decades of being told they were lesser and wanted to see a woman become president before their deaths are CULTISTS. If so I know a how bunch of them. My mother would be first on that list.

there were some on the extreme side that might qualify. But, the difference is the GOP is no longer the party of conservative principles. It's now the party of Trump and what ever he decides to do. We didn't see people fleeing the party in mass under Obama the way Republican's are jumping ship under Trump.

Republicans have been having issues for a long time. Most just didnt notice if you werent a republican. There have been noticeable camps now since Reagan. The "country club" establishment GOP like Romney and Bush, the libertarians and the far right/conservative/tea party types. Establishment have normally been in charge but over the last decade since the tea party, the conservative/freedom caucus types came forward and are now in charge. Trump has been able to get in more with that group and speaks mostly for them these days.
