Former President Bush was not "on watch" when 911 happened.

President Obama is not "on watch" when suicide rates increase in the military.

The President of the United States is only part of the machine, known as the US Government, and could not possibly be "on watch" and personally responsible for every thing that happens while they are in office. This "on watch" blame game is pointless, and in my opinion does nothing to advance our understanding of a given situation. Let's try to keep things meaningful and actually learn something from our verbal jousting.

According to the leftest anti-Bush crowd he was "on watch" for 9/11 and everything else that happened. They set the standard now they run from it.

Well, I think "the rightest" pro-Bush crowd might have help thinks along by crowing about "no terrorist attacks on US soil" since 911.

That argument is asinine. Under that premise, Clinton "kept us safe" for about 7 years after the first world trade center bombing.

I think it was in response but the fact remains, the left constantly blamed everything that happened on Bush because it was his watch.

Now you guys run from it......hilarious but I said at the time you would,

Which is pretty typical for leftest arguments isn't it but they loved that line for 7 years.

"But, didn't those 3000 get killed during his watch?"

    Devil

"Federal spending soars under Bush's watch"

    Devil again

"......seems to me there were two rather tall buildings in NYC still standing when Clinton left office. What ever happened to those on Bush's watch??"

    Bourne

"All of which started on Bush's watch."

    nonsqtr

"9/11 happened on Bush's watch, and he was asleep at the wheel.

    Vortex

"The worst terrorist attack on our shores happened on Bush's watch on 9/12/01. Seems you have forgotten that one. "

    Bourne again

"It began on Bush's watch after 8 years of inaction by him."

I could go on but I think the point is made.

Now it is Obama's "watch" and they all run when that is pointed out.

It's not my point to say that one side or the other used the "on watch" thing more. I don't think either side should. I think it's lame for conservatives to use it, simply because liberals did... or vice versa. Let's just turn on our brains and do some real thinking that actually might get us somewhere.

I strongly disagree with this point.

The President of the United States, is the Commander In Chief of the US Armed Forces.

It is his sworn Constitutional Duty to be "on watch".

We elect him as a trusted servant, specifically to be on watch, and to carry out his Constitutional obligation to the People.

We PAY him, to be "on watch". We pay him a LOT, to be "on watch".

If he's not "on watch", then WHO IS?
