When you go to your polling place they ask for your name and if your name is on the list then you vote. I've also voted by mail and I just give my name and address and they send me a ballot. Now, if I show up and someone has already voted using my name I will scream bloody murder and so would anyone else. How do people who are not citizens vote in any numbers that could make a difference without a whole bunch of people noticing? I've never been able to figure that out.
They used to check twice in books. Once you showed ID,then they wrote your name and Address in another book. Now,you give your Id,it is checked on the computer, you get your memory card and vote.

The Legislature passed funding this year for all new machines, ready for the next election.

How will I identify myself when registering to vote?

The voter registration application asks for your driver license or California identification card number, or you can use the last four numbers on your Social Security card. If you do not have a driver license, California identification card or Social Security card, you may leave that space blank. Your county elections official will assign a number to you that will be used to identify you as a voter.
Follow these simple steps for registering in person. The rules are different on line:

    Mr. Nightswimmer,

LOL, right, if you don't look for illegals voting, you won't find any.

    Bottom line,

How will I identify myself when registering to vote?

If it doesn’t You can fill out a Provisional Ballot, sealed and checked later at the BOE.

I can call the Board and get an Absentee Ballot. They send it then check to make sure you received it.

Yes, I probably should have simply said "non-citizen". Non-citizens aren't allowed to vote anywhere in the US.

If you do not provide valid ID, the elections officials will attempt to find your proof of citizenship, but if they can't, then you won't be registered to vote.

    Mr. Night Swimmer,

LOL, right. The illegal voter already validated their citizenship status. They checked the box stating "I am a US citizen." I mean, an illegal who snuck into this country, stole a social security number to work, is working illegally, and probably doesn't use his real name would not lie about that, right?

    Mr. Swimmer,

Why do you lie about facts not in evidence?

Checking the box that says "I am a US citizen" is proof enough for them.
