House conservatives prep push to impeach Rosenstein

House conservatives are preparing a new push to oust Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, according to three conservative Capitol Hill sources — putting the finishing touches on an impeachment filing even as Rosenstein announced the indictment of 12 Russian intelligence officers for interfering in the 2016 election. House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows, in fact, had the impeachment document on the floor of the House at the very moment that Rosenstein spoke to reporters and TV cameras Friday.

Conservative GOP lawmakers have been plotting to remove Rosenstein for weeks, accusing him of slow-walking their probe of FBI agents they’ve accused of bias against President Donald Trump. Democrats contend Republicans’ fixation on Rosenstein is really an effort to undermine special counsel Robert Mueller, who reports to Rosenstein and has been making inroads in his investigation of the Russian election interference plot. Mueller’s probe has entangled members of Trump’s inner circle and Trump has increasingly assailed it as a politically motivated “witch hunt” as it’s presented greater danger to him and his allies.

Republicans could also try to hold Rosenstein in contempt of Congress, if they want to go a step before impeachment. It is unclear how much support conservatives will have in their effort. Rosenstein has become a punching bag for Trump and his allies as they vent frustration over the Russia investigation. Since Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself, Rosenstein has overseen the Mueller probe, which is also examining potential obstruction of justice charges against the president.

But House GOP leaders like Speaker Paul Ryan have clearly been uncomfortable with the notion of going after Rosenstein. It’s unlikely that will change anytime soon, especially so soon after the latest indictments. Ryan’s office was not immediately available for comment

WTF??? This is just nuts. Rosenstein is a Trump appointee doing his job. If this does pass - all hell is going to break lose.

No way...but it's funny how scared they are after today.

I'm going to expand on this in the indictment thread.

They're running out of options.

Badmouthing the DOJ and the FBI isn't working. They have to shut down the investigation -- if they can. I don't think they can.

What's to be scared of , Russians getting bagged for hacking. FBI & Justice doing their job. Congratulations. This should of been happening years ago. This isn't the first time espionage and hacking of sensitive things has occurred. It is the first time under Trump and that's what has the left in a frenzy. F35 technology was hacked by the Chinese and I haven't heard one word from any of you. Now the Chinese have their J20. NO outrage at all.

Just stop. There is zero evidence that Russia actually interfered with out election previous to 2016 but were making the effort to do so starting in 2014. And it looks like a Congress person was in on it as well. Trying to go after Rosentein to somehow "protect" Trump from any future findings Mueller might have.

If this does not alarm you, then you really are just part of the Dear Leader cult.

I can't decide if I want this to happen or not. I mean, as a fan of trainwrecks, impeaching Rosenstein is right up my alley. Plus, I'm unsure of what the investigation will reveal in the end but going as far as to impeach Rosenstein kind of makes those doing it look like they've got a little dirt on their hands.

But, I guess I'd much rather just have the investigation proceed. I don't know what the rush is. It's been going on for a shorter time than many other investigations and with more results than some too.

Maybe Mueller will find more to indict, maybe this is as much as will come from it, maybe there will be nothing found. The investigation will be a success once it's complete weather it finds a ton or finds nothing.

Military technology for the F-22, F-35 was hacked during previous administration and not one word of outrage from you. Now China is flying around in J20's. Get your priorities in order. Oh wrong politics. Mueller's investigation will go in spite of a corrupt Strzok or Rosenstein. If you have the dirt on Trump & his crew , show us. If he is dirty, Pence takes over. China thanks you for the military technology. Of course I doubt you care.

These days, it seems some groups are interested in leaking damaging information, often without context, said Reed, who is based in Chicago. That was something that didn't happen in 2008, when the campaigns of Barack Obama and John McCain were hacked, he said.

"The thing is, 2008 was just kind of normal espionage," Reed said. "However, after that you have WikiLeaks, you have all of these hacking groups but most of it is about leaking things."

Obama’s former tech chief saw the hacked elections coming. He just expected more people to care.
Harper Reed told Recode that if this happened in another country, we’d be demanding a new election.

Election hacking shouldn't surprise you, Obama's former tech chief says - Chicago Tribune
What the heck???

Successful hackers "could've really disrupted our process," he said in the talk. "They could've disrupted the election. I don't think we're going to be that safe in the future."

Now, following reports that the Russian government intervened in this year's election to help boost Donald Trump to victory, Reed's prediction appears to have come true.

He told Blue Sky the use of technology in campaigns, as in business, creates a "fragile environment." And in an election, there is typically one clearly defined opponent.

Oppo research is done all the time during campaigns.

But NOT FROM HOSTILE FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS.

Even the oppo researchers know that.

The minute anyone from Russia contacted anyone on the Trump Team - they should of reported it to the FBI.
