Obama cancels visit because of security concerns

Is this just a reality that we are going to have to just get used to if he becomes President? Are we going to have to spend 4 years in fear that our President will be assassinated everytime he goes into public? I heard on the news yesterday that they wouldn't disclose his location for his speech the day before because of security concerns as well. I want to know what the security concerns were and I think they should tell us.

Barack Obama will skip Greensboro because of security concerns.

Mayor Yvonne Johnson told the Greensboro News-Record that the Democratic presidential candidate had planned on making a stop in the city this week, but canceled because of security concerns.

Officials also looked at N.C. A&T, but the historically black college was booked.

The city's assistant police chief would not discuss the nature of the concerns, and calls to the Secret Service and Obama's headquarters were not returned.

Obama will hold events in Charlotte and Fayetteville on Wednesday.

Update: The Charlotte Observer reports that the events in Charlotte will be two high-dollar fundraisers: A reception for donors who give $2,300 and $1,000, both at a private residence off Wendover Road.

Maybe if folks didn't blame him for the words of another this wouldn't be a concern.

But as we all know, guilt by association is common.

Or maybe you could actually find out who is threatening him first because the media in Greensboro is speculating gang violence as the reason he had to cancel....

Not to mention he had to hire extra security long before this came out.

Which gangs, freckles? Are there only black gangs?

And if it is fear from blacks, doesn't that shatter your fears of obama's "black power"?

Did you know that there are blacks that don't like Obama? Yup, catch this hate sermon by a black preacher that supports Hillary (and loves Bill).
    Obama's Bra 54 Double "D"

Your "black power" fears are irrational. You attribute hate to a church that you know nothing about. I bet you didn't even bother to look at the services the church offers to the community, the resources it has offered and provided for whites and blacks alike, the good it has done.

And of course Obama had to hire more security, racism is still a problem in this nation. And Obama doesn't have the resources that the POTUS has provided to him every day. I would think that if Obama is elected the very skilled Secret Service will be able to protect him just as they protect Bush now and Bush is subject to threats from a wider range of folks than Obama.

Obama has had secret service protection almost from the time that he announced that he was running for POTUS.

I agree with Vortex partly, Obama is losing popularity in the black community more on the basis of his being a little too slick than anything else. I discussed this with a Black squid I BS with at the gym when taking a breather. I think he is at least half convinced to vote green if Obama is nominated but he is still threatening to vote for McCain if Hillary is the nominee so the disgust has not yet reached critical for him yet.

In Greensboro, yes, black and Mexican. That is a problem in that town. All churches offer community services.
