I just finished writing a letter to my Congressman, whom I have voted for twice, Democrat Mike McIntyre, thanking him for his steadfast opposition to the current Health Care Bill. I have been in touch with his office periodically over the last four years, letting them know that they are doing a fantastic job representing the district. We are a moderate and diverse district, and Mike McIntyre has done a fantastic job serving us. I'm proud to have voted for this man who not only will not vote for the Senate Health Care Bill, but who also voted against President Obama's corrupt Stimulus Package.

Among at least 27 Democrats who will vote against the bill is Rep. Mike McIntyre of North Carolina, who confirmed his opposition Monday.

"Health care reform is needed, but the bill before us is too expensive, does not adequately address rising medical costs and skyrocketing insurance premiums, and tries to do too much too soon," McIntyre said in a written statement. "We simply cannot afford to create a new federal bureaucracy that costs nearly $1 trillion when our national debt is $12 trillion and there is no plan in place to address it. I will not vote for it."

(For all those conservatives in Burgaw that gave me a hard time for voting for a Democrat.... see, McIntyre is the man).

I'm just curious to know if you would vote to re-elect him as a show of gratitude for his HC vote, over a Republican who's platform you perhaps like better.

Absolutely. That is what I've done in the last elections. When McIntyre voted against the Stimulus Package after a solid month of pressure from his district, I really did feel like this was a guy who would represent his people. So while that means he won't always represent every principle I hold, I know he's standing up for my Community collectively. And I don't expect him to necessarily give the finger to the majority of his constituents just because I'm against a bill. Some good Republicans have run against him, but he keeps getting elected because the people here know he actually listens.

So you all aren't getting any stimulus money down there?

Tons came through North Carolina, New Hanover County and Brunswick County. My county I don't think has gotten anything. I haven't seen any new projects or any American Recovery and Reinvestment Act signs.
