    Why? It isn't demeaning another race. It is simply asking one voting racial bloc to vote and counteract the votes of another voting racial bloc. "Race" is not a dirty four-letter word, you know.

    Because Congressional seats don't belong to any race. And if you don't think it was demeaning, then imagine a white Congressman saying that the blacks or Jews were trying to take a seat away.
