    Forbes: Obamacare is working

Had a family gathering last night with a cousin from Canada. I asked him about the "horrible socialist system" he lives under and he proceeded to tell me how he had successful double bypass surgery and paid nothing out of pocket and a recent two-week hospital stay, equally uncharged.

How can you Canadians live under such TYRANNY?????!!

Recent data provided by the nation’s largest health insurance companies reveals that a provision of the Affordable Care Act – or Obamacare – is bringing big numbers of the uninsured into the health care insurance system. And they are precisely the uninsured that we want– the young people who tend not to get sick.
The provision of the law that permits young adults under 26, long the largest uninsured demographic in the country, to remain on their parents’ health insurance program resulted in at least 600,000 newly insured Americans during the first quarter of 2011.

I'm on the flip side of that age demographic now, but when i was that age i seem to recall that i could be covered by my parents as long as i could be claimed as a dependent which was up through the age of 25 ( and i was in school so it was relevant).

Now, i see 26, but is this a 'change'?

I'd have the same conversation with my friend Jim...but he died because the wait for an angioplasty was over 4 weeks. By then, the damage was too severe.

When you make it law...it's a change.

I believe that under the old law, a child had to be continuing in school, full time, in order to be on a parent's insurance. That's no longer the case.

Not sure what your point is. there are waits even in America often times for Specialists( doctors) depending on where one lives and depending on the number of patients already scheduled.

Jim had serious money. That's all that matters in fee-for-service America.

Do you think it's justified to pass a 2000+ page monstrosity to get that one provision enacted?
