What people fail to appreciate about socialists, communists, progressives.

"What goes unappreciated is that socialists and communists have produced the greatest evil in mankind’s history." Walter E. Williams

Professor of economics Walter Williams makes some pretty good points in this article but I think he sugarcoats the problem with socialists, communists and progressives way too much. Socialists, Communists, Progressives, Fascists ? LewRockwell.com

For example he said: " believe most Americans find the ideals and principles of socialism, communism and progressivism repugnant, but by our sanctioning greater government centralization and its control over our lives, we become their dupes or, as Lenin said, “useful idiots.”

I don't buy that. I think the left knows damned well that their agenda is contemptible but they don't find it repugnant. They embrace it and just to hide behind a plethora of euphemisms to try to dodge the anger of decent and just people.

You just descriped any partisan adherent to a playbook, left or right. For in practice, they're one in the same. Thanks for reminding me they are a dying species earmarked for extinction.

That isn't what people fail to appreciate. It's that those particular ideologies are FOR something, and they aren't backing down from those goals. In other words, conservatives especially tend to view things as a firefighter would. Just prevent one or another thing from going wrong, retreat to the firehouse, and all is well. That's fine if you're fighting a fire, but if you're fighting an arsonist, that doesn't work because the issues never really go away until you get rid of the arsonist. The socialists for example, have never really lost -- because when they lose they simply find a way to restart that fire. We were actually talking about health care in the 1930's under the FDR second bill or rights, as well as living wages and the like. (Second Bill of Rights - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) What happened is that the issues get trotted out every generation until it actually happens. One issue at a time, and then rachet up the benefits offered until it's all "free", or at least free to the person getting it.

The only thing in that article that could have "reminded you that they are a dying species earmarked for extinction" is your own wishful thinking. You post some of the most absurd non sequiturs.

That is an excellent summary of the problem.

Of course you're not aware of the fact of their historically low popularity poll numbers and millions leaving both parties. You're stuck in the 1950's.

I don't support their "agenda" but then my cultural values are quite different.

I'm well aware of that fact but that fact had nothing to do with the OP, so your remark about being "reminded" was an "I like turtles" moment for you.
