That second statement is from the Wall Street journal, unquestionably NOT a liberal or progressive leaning paper.

    Points made:

    A) Angel of Dearth's statement is factually true.
    B) It doesn't mean jack in the context.

Now let's see how the US is ranking in comparison in regards to the "effective corporate tax rate"... then we can talk numbers.
While other OECD countries have lower rates, they also have fewer loopholes and so pay a higher effective rate.

BTW, the US doesn't have the highest corporate tax rate in the world, just the highest among OECD countries.

That's true, but it's always easier to blame "Welfare Mama" for our nation's woes.

That's bullshit. There is no such thing as corporate welfare and you libs call every legitimate tax deduction a "loophole". The rich pay the vast majority of all taxes. The poor pay nothing. But you want to sit there and lie through your teeth and claim the rich get more than the poor?

And who am I to pass judgement on the poor? Someone who started out life from a family about as dirt poor as they come.
    Thanks from Raoul_Duke

Nope, just a figment of the imagination!

Think by Numbers Government Spends More on Corporate Welfare Subsidies than Social Welfare Programs

There is no such thing as corporate welfare. There are tax deductions, subsidies and grants. All have to be dealt with on an individual basis because most tax deductions are warranted, most subsidies are policy based and approved in bi-partisan bills and grants..... well, I don't give a damn if we stop issuing grants to new business, so I'm all for eliminating grants. But the real point here is that none of that is welfare. Welfare is people signing up to get taxpayer money based entirely on their means. Welfare is Marxism. Corporate welfare is just a buzz word for any tax deductions you don't think business should take.

Because he's calling it a 'subsidy' (among other things) and you're calling it 'corporate welfare' -- its semantics, but let's get down to it, you realize that Medicare winds up paying money to some of the largest health care corporations in the world, right? Hundreds of billions......you don't call defense spending corporate welfare either. Likewise you don't call Medicaid social welfare apparently, or at least the article doesn't.

Sure as hell beats,"Go Shopping!" After we were attacked on 9/11!
