Wisdom comes from the unlikeliest places. And on Saturday, Ben Bowling, the valedictorian of Bell County High School in Pineville, Ky., made an inspirational appeal that left his graduating classmates and their parents dumbstruck.

“This is the part of my speech where I share some inspirational quotes I found on Google,” he told the packed auditorium. “‘Don’t just get involved. Fight for your seat at the table. Better yet, fight for a seat at the head of the table’ — Donald J. Trump.”

    The crowd burst into applause....

    snip

“Just kidding,” he said. “That was Barack Obama.”

The cheering abruptly stopped. The crowd went mostly silent. There was a lone boo.

    I can hardly believe it.

    The joke is on Obama.

Donald Trump did exactly what Obama said, fought his way to the seat at the head of the table, President of the United States.

No joke on Obama - Obama said it and did it (albeit not in that order). The joke was on the audience, who loved the quote initially not because it had value, but because DJT said it. When they discovered it was Obama and not Trump, it suddenly was not such a great quote anymore. Exposure of hypocrisy, among other things, is embarrassing when done in public.

If they'd spend less time on FoxNews, and more time educating themselves... they wouldn't be so easy to be duped.

It could have been A LOT worse but it only resulted in a shocked silence and one boo. Graduation obviously continued without problems. Obama is not well thought of in Kentucky. Many lost their jobs under his administration. Just like Trump is not well liked in California. I bet worse would happen in a very blue State or City if Trump quotes were used at a HS graduation.

It will take a few generations to move to the center because republicans have done absolutely nothing for Kentucky. Appalachia is a disaster.
    No. One city, Athens,Ohio.
