I saw that. Kind of a Jerry Springer moment. Actually, I think he should have let one of them come up and talk for say, 2 minutes. Just throwing them out was a little harsh. I liked Sheila Jackson-Lee's response: "I'm not touching the first amendment".

911 Truthers get way too wound up by evidence with no meaningful conclusion attached. It's just loose ends that can't be tied together in any way. While they have legitimate complaints about some things, it's just sounds incoherent when they throw stuff out there in the form of questions that can't be answered as proof that there's something sinister going on.

And I wish they'd focus more on the anthrax thing.

Re: 911 Truthers Infiltrate Bill Maher Audience

I'm not sure I agree that Bill Maher was wrong here.

First, the 911 "Truthers" were out of line. They were disruptive. I am all for free speech, BUT, there are some forums where exercising that right results in being ejected from the building. This was one such instance. Mr. Maher has every right to ask that the audience not interrupt during a show where audience participation is not a part of the concept.

That being said, the "Truthers" have posited a bunch of non-facts and erronious theories. They throw around technical and engineering terms WITHOUT really understanding WTF they are talking about.

I will admit that I am not an engineer, but I do know a couple of engineers AND I have discussed this issue with an engineer on this forum. They say that the "Truthers" are wrong. I will defer to the expertise of these engineers, rather than the nonsensical ramblings of the paranoid posse, every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

That's TWICE on Sundays (had to do it because I'm posting this on Sunday).

The bottom line is this: People go to be the audience for Bill Maher's show because they want to HEAR what is said, not because they want to shout conspiracy theories from the audience. If the "Truthers" REALLY feel that they have a case, then they should get the money together and PAY to host their own show.

Re: 911 Truthers Infiltrate Bill Maher Audience

I was arguing with my sister about this and she was saying, "They just want to be heard". My response was "Well let them get their own talk show then." Now, that's somewhat of a Libertarian comment, not usually my forte, but they tend to just show up places and yell - as does Code Pink - and it doesn't get them heard, it just sounds like angry background noise, and no one is going to listen anyway because it has no context. Chanters irritate the fuck out of me. It really does their case no good because, as you say, it's merely disruptive.

Having said that, Bill Maher would looked like a bigger person if he'd given one of them a chance to air their reasoning for a couple of minutes. It is my experience in 10+ years of customer service that more often than not, the best way to shut someone up is to give them your undivided attention, which results in them suddenly realizing they have nothing to say. This also works well with whiny children.

I understand that there are unanswered questions about 911 and I get why these people react to being told to shut up the way they do to some degree. But if one of them would write a book or something, they could go on a publicity tour and get air time for this cause. Just yelling random comments in other people's venues just makes them look stupid.

I think Bill was having pot withdrawl. He seemed awfully grouchy for a pothead.

When a President and Vice President do so many dastardly, disastrous things, people start wondering about every disastor, if they're behind it. Personally I think they knew about the attack, let it happen so they could have their wars to grab executive power, steal billions from our treasury for the war machine and get control of the oil. I think the planes knocked down the buildings and the collapse of one and two knocked down seven. Bush knew it was coming. He got the memo. He just stood by and watched. That's why he sat in the classroom looking scared shitless for all that time instead of getting up and taking charge. He let it happen.

Here's a really good Bill Maher clip. This is one of his best.
