Many American Goods are of better quality, BUT....I will purchase from foreign companies, if they make something really nice.

The problem is, that I could try to buy a Ford Pickup, that was made in Mexico, with the profits going to the owners in Great Britain (I THINK this is the case, not 100% certain...), when I could buy a NISSAN, made down the road from me, with the profits going to Japan, through the North American Nissan Headquarters...down the road from me.

By the same token, I could buy a 6-pack of Budweiser, made in America, with profits going to Europe, OR, I could by a much better Beer, crafted somewhere in the United States, with the profits staying local.

I do try to avoid Chinese made products. Primarily, because they are often of very low quality, made with sub par materials.
There was a time that "Made in USA" signaled better quality. That isn't necessarily true any longer. Automobiles are a big example of this.

They do NOT need to raise the price of their products, just take a hit in the profit dept. They will still probably make 15% profit at the VERY least. (And that is DAMNED good, for many businesses....)
    interesting

Apple and many other international brands tend to also be stocks held by many funds used by 401k's so you'd be hurting the folks you're trying to help

Oh what a tangled web we weave.........

You need not even go high tech to see how govt intrusion has had a negative effect on the economy and forced off-shoring

Let's consider the lightbulb. For years Sylvania and GE were humming along making the gold ole reliable 60 watt bulb

Along came Al Gore and his fictional movie. Many saw manmade global warming as a vehicle to punish the avg person and amass wealth among those with Democrat connections.

So, the govt embraced the "Gore film" as being factual and mandated the sunset of incandescent bulbs and forced people into buying gore-bulbs

the gore-bulbs were expensive so in order for the common person to be able to afford them the production had to be moved

So, fiction was used to put forth an agenda which in turn hurt the little guy who went to work each day making light bulbs.

With respect to buying American, close the door the horse has left the barn. Chip foundries could not meet the regulations of the govt so thousands of jobs from TI, Intel and others all went overseas.

But look at it this way, the next time you meet an older person bagging your Big Mac at least give them something to be happy about and let them know that Democrat policies saved the spotted turd flicker from extinction and they should find solace in the sacrifice of their job and livelihood.

No, that's not how it works. They don't take a hit in the profits department. They raise the price of the item that they are selling or use a combination of automation and employees. With a significant tariff, it become less expensive or at least break even to make it here as opposed to China. Then those jobs come back.

many folks do not understand the term "fiduciary obligation to shareholders"

And many shareholders are nine to fiver's and their 401k contributions hold shares in companies

Such a shame that Mr. Minority is impeding the small business owners around his Trump Towers - their business is down 20%

Oh that's right, I forgot - he doesn't really care about American jobs.
