I always thought it would be a good business model to open up a chain of stores called Made in America or something like that where everything would be made in America.

Problem is, probably a failure of a business model, there would be a struggle to be able to manufacture everything in the US and would require extensive capital, and then have to compete with Walmart, and I don't think people want to give up their cheap goods. Most people barely get by, they are not going to shell out more for american bought products, no matter how much they say they love Merica

I do find it ironic that Walmart thrives in rural areas from people that love to wave the flag and show how patriotic they are, complain there are no jobs, but then go to a store that drove away all the jobs
There have been several American clothing stores here. Sherrod Brown's suits come from Ohio. Bill Clinton wears shirts made in PA.

Not quite. Actually Lenovo is a multinational corporation. They acquired IBM's computer business in 2005. They do a ton of their production in Morrisville, North Carolina where they have something like 2,500 employees. Again jobs.

I've been to the assembly plant, and have several friends who work there. I also have a few friends that have worked at Marysville, Ohio's Honda plant. Where they have assembled Honda's including the right hand drive ones for a long time.

Nothing tastes like Karo. I think it is 6 bottles for $16. I will reorder. I use dark brown sugar because of the molasses content. Twice as good.

When I was a kid my Dad got it straight from the kettle. He grew up on a farm and knew every one in the county.

Marysville is close to Indian Lake.

Any fruit picker that doesn't make minimum wage in the US sucks as a fruit picker. They are paid piece rate depending upon the fruit. When picking apples in North Georgia, a good fruit picker is making good money.

Ok, I don't doubt that. What I doubt is that having been to the ONE assembly plant Lenovo has in the USA since June 2013, with 115 manufacturing jobs, counts for the MAJORITY of their computers produced.

Let me correct that, I don't doubt it, I call a very big BS on that one.

Call it whatever you want. Lenovo has over 2,200 employees in North Carolina. They not only assemble computers there, which does have a lot of automation involved but they also design computers there. Either way it's 2,200 jobs here in America that could easily be in China.

See and that's the problem.... no it's not about "call it what you want", it's about calling it by it's name, and facts. Your adversion to facts is what the issue is.

115 manufacturing jobs, which result in products tagged "ASSEMBLED in the US".. for a 37 Billion $ company.. and you walk across your own thread about "Made / assembled in the US" products, claiming that Lenovo manufactures most of their computers in the US.
Which is an outright lie.. and this is why you never have any credibility in debates.

It's 2,200 jobs. I know that you only want to count the "manufacturing" jobs because it makes you feel like you win a big point. Lenovo has 2,200 jobs and we are talking good paying jobs in North Carolina. Great, take the word MOST out of the post, will it make you happy? The point is that they employ 2,200 Americans rather than having that all in China.
    Thanks from Snikitz
