BTW...Eastwood went PC in his move "El Camino".

Dirty Harry would have wasted those gang punks whether he had cancer or not.

Now that is a movie that could not be made today for fear of violating political correctness!

What are you talking about, this political correctness is no big deal, oh crap, I almost forgot the rest of my clarification,

I'm sorry for introducing my position, as a white cis male, I should check my privilege and ask a minority for permission to speak.
    Thanks from Southern Dad

Eastwood didn't talk about current political events, but while discussing his then-controversial 1971 film 'Dirty Harry,' he waded into a topic he's touched on before: political correctness.
'A lot of people thought it was politically incorrect,' Eastwood said of 'Dirty Harry.' 'That was at the beginning of the era that we're in now, where everybody thinks everyone's politically correct. We're killing ourselves by doing that. We've lost our sense of humour.'

He is right, Dirty Harry was a story of a cop going after a known criminal that had kidnapped a girl and buried her in a hole somewhere that she would die in.
Harry just wanted to stop the criminal, but the city was telling him his tactics were not correct. In fact the criminal paid a guy to beat him up so he could blame Harry for it. As it turned out Harry killed the Criminal , but the girl died, but the city seemed to care more about Harry being politically correct then getting the criminal. I think this is true today. We focus more on being politically correct then getting justice. We have lost humor making us outraged at anything that doesn't fall within out ideology. For instance Trump gets death threats because he wants to keep America safe, or He wants to build a wall on the Mexican border so we can prevent drug dealers from smuggling drugs. People want people destroyed for not being politically correct. Clint is right, we lost our sense of humor.

You are mixing too many ideas.

Could "Dirty Harry" get made today? Sure it could. It had a few iconic moments that still resonate with modern audiences, and is one of the best revenge films ever made. It has no horribly offensive racist tropes or other such memes modern audiences would likely find repulsive -- and neither does Charles Bronson's iconic revenge film "Death Wish".

Both films played to rising fears of violent crime that were sinking in to every American city, at the end of the 1970's. We do not have the same fears today, as violent crime rates have fallen off to near-1960's levels. We still fear violent criminals, of course -- but not in exactly the same way. Not every young man is a likely thug, as these films portrayed at the time.

Revenge-by-rogue-cop films need a hook; a particular kind of criminal that cannot be hunted with traditional police methods. I'm not sure what the would be now, or else I'd be making dough as a screen writer. But the plot still exciting, when written well, just as it has always been.

I am huge Clint Eastwood fan, but Lord have mercy. He sounds moronic every time he tries to talk about politics....which is certainly forgivable. I just wish he'd STFU about the topic. Him and Morgan Freeman both.
