seems like it taxes all citizens equally up to the limits set - then it's a flat tax for all after that. that should be sufficient. I have no intention of trying to punish the rich because they have more.

No....you'd rather punish the middle class and poor because they have less and the rich want it all!
    Isn't that the GOP's goal?

Paying their fair share is only seen as punishment to greedy bastards like Trump who pays nothing.

I suggest you read the proposal carefully and follow the discussion. the tax will hit those who make above $120,000 a year pretty heavily - and there are no exemptions or deductions except as stated. it's not the tax rate that causes inequality - it's the deductions that allow avoiding taxes.

maybe a sampling would say more. let's say you make $50,000 a year and have a dependent. you're under the Medicare limit and the standard deductible limit, so the 12.75% rate applies (you currently are paying 7.7%). it's gonna cost you 5.05% more and that covers your healthcare. since you haven't reached the $60,000 deductible - that's your total tax.
let's now say you make $200,000 a year and have a dependent. up until the $60,000 limit, you pay 12.75 % tax - that's for SSA and healthcare. after the limit is reached, your tax goes to 15% (12.75% SSA and 6.5% healthcare plus 2.25% income tax) until you reach $120,000 and reach the SSA limit. after the SSA limit, you pay 25% of all over the $120,000 limit (6.5% of which is your healthcare tax). so, you figure it out as it's a very simple calculation.

I suspect we will not have a re-run of 1929. Part of the business community running the government includes finding ways to keep their money and power while not allowing the economy to collapse. Every once in a while, this requires a correction popularly known as a "bailout."

Plus the passing down of mega fortunes tax free would continue generation after generation. And never be taxed. Right now 72% of the Fortune 500 richest Americans got it the old fashioned way, they inherited it. That per cent will continue to grow...and grow...and grow...and the middle class will continue to shrink...and shrink...and shrink...

I already have healthcare very cheap and I don't care what you pay in taxes.

I do care what I pay.

Emotional term, punish the rich, normalize the value of a fair tax system, and you don't use such emotional language, thought better of you.
