So I'm not quite sure how academia is going to "change" when conservative's don't seem that interested in teaching college classes.
And also because the culture of academia isn't exactly welcoming to them.

    OMG. You are irony proof.
You have not presented one single fact in this thread, let alone backed anything up.

This is why this article is such crap. Then the same people flock to clearly biased sites known for lies, spin, and other biased reporting. Yeah, liberals are the ones that are biased
Agreed, this constant attack on academia is absurd and is usually conducted by people with little or no education. Why is it that academics can debate using facts and anti-academia uses opinion? When challenged on their opinion lacking facts, all of a sudden academia is a leftist conspiracy.

Have you noticed that the most vociferous anti-academics are those evincing poor logic skills and a lack of understanding of basic causation? They tend to embrace the weirdest of theories because they lack the skills to determine what is authentic and what is false.

    Mr. MacDuff,

I think it's more the axiom, "those who can, do, those who can't, teach." There's also the thing about teachers are mostly public servants, living off the government dollar, and people that live off the government are overwhelmingly liberal.

What is that supposed to mean?

If they do not CHOOSE to get a Phd, how is that anyone's fault?

Yup, exactly. Yeah, the entire world is biased against them. That should tell them that they are wrong. That and the fact most of the time what they do is state something like its fact with nothing to back it up, then deflect all criticism of counter arguments, and just repeat

It's rather pointless to argue people that think Fox news is fair and balanced and all other media, movies, TV, music, universities, science are all biased. That just shows where the real bias is

It means that you have universities that are less likely to hire conservatives. For much the same reasons as the results in the OP. Because they don't just disagree with them, they think that their politics are a result of a character defect.

And people can have conservative views and be in academia. THere are a lot. They just can't be raving idiot right wingers that believe in things counter the facts and what science say. LIke that evolution doesn't happen, climate change doesnt' exist, the world is flat, homosexuals or other minorities shouldn't have the same rights, and many of the other ridiculous things. This is just their way to deflect even more. Everything is lined up against their wrong worldview, so they want to claim its all biases. It's complete and utter bullshit.

And my comments are more geared towards the extremists. Like those that think the entire world is biased and only they know the real facts. But then again, these people often tend to be deeply religious, so they have the arrogance of thinking they know it all, and their religion teaches them they don't have to prove anything, they just have to believe

Might also be about differences in how we're wired. Talheim et al. (2014, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin), for example, find that liberals think more analytically than conservatives
