There was a reason that Air America didn't last.

There was a corporate boycott of the program by the largest corporations in the country. No ads, no operating funds.

Limbaugh, on the other hand, is offered free to many networks. Driving up interstate 5 through the Sacramento Valley you can find Limbaugh on 4 or 5 stations at the same time. The rest of the stations have other right wing talkers or Christian right programming.

It's no wonder this area went for Trump. Those people have no access to anything but right wing opinion.

    "corporate boycott", huh?

Well, I have heard lots of reasons, and I'll add that one to the list.

I always though AA failed because not enough people listened to it.

I don't hate Hogan. For a Republican he's not too irritating. He's done a couple of things that would probably piss off a lot of conservatives, though.

There are some good lefties on the radio these days though, Norman Goldman and Thom Hartman are two of them but after a half hour they get tiresome as well. Mike Malloy is the only leftie voice that does what the typical right winger on radio does, he screams, insults, has tantrums and he has a very, very small audience. On the other hand, Mark Levin is about to get a spot on Fox News, that should tell you all you need to know about the right wing.
Thom Hartman is pretty good. I haven't listened to him in a while, but his knowledge of history and relating to current events is good.

No one wants to hear left-winged propaganda and lies.

Right-wing talk radio has something that the left will never be able to compete against.

Truth, facts, and ideas in the real world.

The left will never be able to compete in this arena.

    Never.

Smear, spin, and propaganda IS NOT an antidote.
And there is the crux of the popularity of right wing radio, in my opinion.

People think being fed affirming opinion is the same as learning facts. Rush says something that makes folks realize their lot in life is not due to their own limits, but rather because of preferential treatment of black, liberals, illegals, non Christ cultists.

I think it is a generational thing.

Older whites tend to lean more to the right, and be less technologically advanced, so radio is more popular than podcasts. Older folks grew up in a time where there were higher journalistic standards than today, with multiple independent sources for stories required, and hence more likely to believe media outlets, so They confuse opinions fornfacts.

    Well ......

Let them try it again ... But, I'm willing to bet all you will get is another Air America.

Rush is the most successful radio host in history.

Rush has over a million listeners.

Your comment proves that you have never listened to his show and that you are simply parroting left-wing talking points.

Thom Hartmann has been on the air since 2003.

    Stephanie Miller since 1994.
