I sincerely believe the only reason people voted for him was out of spite. They knew he'd be a shitty president and they thought it would be hilarious to watch Trump take the whole country down while the "establishment" screamed in horror.

I think the average American doesn't have any reason to be so bitter. All in all, Trump voters biggest gripes about Obama boil down to "he wanted to take our guns, the economy is growing too slowly and Obama isn't mean enough to people I hate".

If that's a legitimate argument for destroying the country I think we can safely assume someone's put LSD in our water supply.
I asked conservatives why they supported him, voted for him and are still happy he's POTUS. The reply most give is "Trump makes liberals angry."

I guess we all have to suffer now, a lot, because too many white men got their butts hurt by having a black POTUS. Since they suffered a psychological injury, they look to Trump only for a psychological remedy.

And he delivers it, in spades. My ex-huband did not insult me as much as this POTUS does.

I have no interest in defending Trump. I wrote the Op because people I love, IRL, are stressed past the point of good health over his presidency and I worried.

About their peace of mind, and others'.

"Tis the season" and all that horseshit.

    Yes, you do.

    Sorry 'bout that.

It's the opioate equivalent of thlaidomid and Obama did fuck all to stop it burning down the country. But Trump and his FDA director,Scott Gottlieb, have done. I don't approve of all their conduct as to the regulation of drugs across the board, but Trump's DOJ has a criminal investigation underway, looking at Purdue Pharma and the family which owns it.

I am baffled that so many American liberals feel no urge to help Israel assure its survival. Donca know any WW II vets?

Whatevs. I'm not Jewish and I was horrified by Obama's aid and comfort to Arab terrorists, paticularly by the Iran nuclear deal.

I'd rather be in debt than attending funerals for my kid's partner and their friends, etc. As hideous evil acts go, slaughtering your nation's youth (and the yputh of other nations) in a pointless war to make money for yourself and your cronies is a tough one to beat.

Perspective is your friend. Things are not great, but the economy is thiving and there is no threat of WW III on the horizon, as there was, under Nixon and Dubya.

I don't want liberal PHers like yourself to change your mind about Trump. I only want them not to make themselves ill, worrying about Trump.

I just want all the liberals I am fond of to take a deep breath. This is survivable. Most of it is correctable.

We thought the same thing when Bush was president. First came tax cuts, then came deregulation, then the economy went through the floor. Granted, Trump hasn't started any new wars, but who knows what he'll do in the next 3 years?

Anything big happens, we can't cover it financially because we just put ourselves into more debt by doing this stupid tax cut that nobody needed.

Because WE JUST DID THIS. With GWB. And we barely survived and finally recovered and Trump is following the same playbook as Bush and the Republican majority. The bankruptcies of several people in my family with small business and the misery that came with that is still fresh in my mind.

That was a very long OP and unfortunately it shows no growth and utilizes minimalizing as a tool rather than confronting the very real damage. I think everyone is much better off focusing on today's issues because using issues of the past only cushions the current damage and as a result adds to the lack of critical thinking. Your so-called Hillary loving relatives and friends are more likely just more in tune with real issues plaguing this country today. You may want to step off that platform and listen to them. You never understood that it was never about Hillary love or hate. It has always been about issue solutions. Had you listened you would have known that we were going to be screwed because nothing was hidden. But no, instead you decided to make it about Hillary and not the issues. Maybe one day you'll understand that politics is not about people. It has always been philosophical more than personality or short term fake outrages of elections. In elections one the other side is always the devil. Hillary was your devil.

In this real world, the reality is it may take decades to dig out of this mess and you missed it when it was most important to listen and think. Instead you talked about and continue to talk about the devil you created. Oh well.

Not saying that Trump's presidency is okay or doesn't matter....just that The End Is Not Nigh.
You are very confused and confusing.

We just did this because the issues we had originally were kicked down the road. Never really fixed. Healthcare for example has been on the forefront for almost two decades and still nothing that appeases the majority. When GW left office, most Americans were hot over the two unfunded wars. Yet here we are almost 10 years later and we are still there. We have a swinging pendulum because nothing changes. Oh sure there are crumbs here and there for some but nothing big and sweeping. I am beginning to think Americans really dont want change at all, we are all talk and like to bitch.

Or maybe we have two different groups with vastly different interests. We have a great majority who would benefit from one set of policies, and a smaller group with most of the wealth who benefit from a different set of policies. And we have a lack of education in group one that would help them understand how they are being duped by group two.
