It SHOULD be -- if I were inviting a discussion regarding the respective ideologies. However, that isn't what I'm referring to. I'm actually referring to PEOPLE. Because of the frequency with which I'm seeing comments that directly identify PEOPLE (or their ideological groupings) as superior/inferior.

I think that on PH, generalisations regarding ideologies are employed in order to avert infractions when dealing with a particularly obnoxious individual (and both sides have those).

If I'm to broad-brush people based upon their party affiliation, then I'd prefer to only address the fringe elements of each party and leave the more moderate folks out of it.

Conservative extremists tend to be motivated primarily by fear, loathing and tribalism.

Liberal extremists tend to be motivated primarily by simple-minded naiveté.

I don't have much respect for either group.

    Ms. wonderer,

I don't know about superior, but we are definitely better looking:

Well put. I agree with this assessment.

I understand. However, the question is nonsensical. A person is not, generally speaking (there are always outliers) "inferior" or "superior" based on which side of the aisle he or she sits on. It reminds me of the whole, "so, you think you're better than me?" argument.

So, you think you're better than me?!

I think what is non-sensical is asserting that "conservatives are better people than liberals." Or vice-versa. And yet, I see posts like that here on a regular basis. So, I'm trying to suss out whether PHers are willing to acknowledge and own that mentality. Because I keep seeing it voiced here. A lot.

But we see that constantly here and on social media. People are called names just because they belong to a party or even if they dont. There are others out there who definately judge based on which side of the aisle they sit on.

A truism this is not! The rerason for the saying is so cons can feel better about their tender feelings and put down the other people who disagree with them.
