    Who Is Better?

One recurring theme which emerges from discussions on this board (and other political boards) is that one ideological/political group is clearly superior to the other. Which one, naturally, most often depends on a poster's own views. So I'm curious as to how this shakes out here at PH.

ETA: Please feel free to elaborate on your reasoning if you'd like.

Even Conservatives of today are progressive of what America believed 150 years ago.

Neither. While there are large differences between the 2 parties on policy:

    - They both treat it as a game.
    - They both adhere to tribal mentality while pointing the finger at the other for not being civil. Which is not just ironic, it's damaging. Blame is more important than solutions.
    - Working together is a trait that "the other guy" needs to learn - always. It's never their fault... or my fault.

I'm not describing individuals, however (though it could).

But to be diplomatic about it, with things going the way they are these similarities are somewhat understandable.

The idea that one must "pick a side" doesn't sit well with a lot of people. In this country, we're all Americans.

If you had asked this question before Trump become President, I would have a very different answer.

It's not that cut and dry. There are areas where some percentage of both parties agree. Each party has a range of views, sometimes they overlap.

They overlap far more than people want to believe.

The way the question is phrased rubs me the wrong way, I guess.

And if I didn't have a mild migraine today, I might be able to explain why in a more eloquent way. Maybe I'll take another stab at it tomorrow.......
    Thanks from Wonderer

Yeah - it could definitely be improved upon. I've just observed several comments lately which flat out declare the superiority of one group to the other -- sans qualification. And I wanted to explore that a bit. There's an abundance of black/white, us/them thought being bandied about -- frequently accompanied by an inability or unwillingness to recognize that mote in our own eyes, so to speak. It's just "we're great and they suck" mentality and an increasing disinterest or outright disdain for "others." I don't cotton to this.
