    Need Computer help

I was trying to connect my laptop to my TV as a monitor. I was using a vga to hdmi connection.

I could not get my TV to act as a monitor...while I was fooling trying to get the laptop display to duplicate...I set the display over to the monitor only.

Since the monitor does not work, I lost the display on the laptop. I have an old CRT monitor in storage but Im trying to figure out how I can change the settings from my laptop using my laptop.

Im on safe mode but the display is to the safe mode. Will I have to dig out my old monitor or is there a F key that can help?

    Thanks for any help

    DD

    wait .. what ?

ok, so you had your vga output changed (unintended) from the laptop screen to the external monitor only... but since that external monitor ( your tv) did not pick up the signal.. you now have NO video output anywhere.

Do I get that right so far ?

Well, my immediate recommendation would be.. shut off the laptop, reboot it.. and the laptop display should definitely be active again.

When in doubt, turn it off and turn it back on.

Yes while I was trying to throw the display to my tv, I unintentionally- intentionally set my display to monitor only.

I did reboot and a squished version of my accounts came up. I clicked on my main account and it went to black.

Let me trying to reboot and go to another account.

make sure that the external video cable is disconnected.

Also, if your laptop boots up in safe mode.. just go through with it, once it booted up, shut it down again ( no setting changes).. and see if it boots up in standard mode thereafter again.

Just curious, if anything changes when closing and opening the laptop cover?
If you are using an external keyboard.

It worked. I rebooted and went to my administration account. The display was squished but low resolution, I rest that and rebooted again. Now Im on my everyday account.

    Thanks.
