WHAT are you reading in post #44 that would be taken as a refutation of Michael Mann??

Burning more calories than you take in is how you lose weight. Exercise burns calories. It also increases body metabolism. And I don't think anybody actually says that only exercise works, but also diet. And I'm pretty sure those exercise programs will point this out

Nope. What are you attributing to Mann that causes you to claim that?

Deliberately engineering plants to be sterile so that people are locked into buying their seeds for ever and are losing their family farms and committing suicide in droves because of it, and suing farmers for growing their seeds when the seeds arrived there unwanted and sometimes caused those farmers to lose their organic-farming status, isn't a way to endear yourself to the public when these stories get out.

Plus the explanations of "this is exactly the same as selective breeding only speeded up and done more efficiently" don't really hold water unless someone wants to explain how you get jellyfish genes into an onion by selective breeding.
They aren't locked into anything, the farmers don't need to use their seeds. Plain and simple. How would they possibly make money if they just sold seeds once and that was it? It was lots of money to develop the seeds, unlike traditional seeds. Farmers are free not to use it.

And the stories of contamination are bullshit,. farmers got caught trying to steal Monsanto products, which is why every one lost in court. When 90% of your crops have GMO crops, that's not contamination. When you are caught spraying roundup on your crops then you know your seeds are GMOs. Organic industry (what a scam) has been peddling the lies and bulshit about GMOs around the internet. Meanwhile, they have huge financial incentive to do such.

Most of the stories about GMOs are complete bullshit, or people that got caught stealing trying to claim they are the victim.

Yes, Monsanto is a bit overzealous in protecting their product, but most of the stuff is a lot of misinfomation and lies spread on the internet

What was the main premise behind Mann's work?

Compare that to the pre-requisite for post #44 to be accurate.

That's the problem with grasping in that manner, you wind up not considering the implications of the refutation.

If you require further clarification, I will accept that as a concession that you don't truly grasp the subject.

What do you think the main premise behind Mann's work. He saw temperatures increasing and investigated why that was happening when the geological trends should have shown a temperature decrease leading slowly towards the next ice age.

Did you buy into any of these myths? I have to admit, I did buy into #1.* Time to throw them out for the new year. From now on, I'm watching calories as well as exercise.*
I still have my doubts about the first one. It may vary from person to person. I will admit diet probably does count for more in terms of losing weight but in my experience exercise does do more than the article implies. In the summer I walk a LOT at my job than I do in the in the winter. The extra exercise in the summer makes a significant difference as I tend to lose weight. But the gain it back in the winter when I am indoors and not walking as much. Having said all that I believe what the article says.

I found the third one amusing. I thought everyone knew that antibiotics only worked on bacterial infections as opposed to viral infections. This is just basic high school biology which I learned in the ninth grade. Or maybe I just had a great teacher who taught me more stuff about viruses than the average person seems to know.

Some of the others like power posing just seem idiotic and i never people were believing such stuff

That's a gross understatement. For 10 years they tied everyone up in court over milk from cows that don't take hormones. For many of those years, retailers had refused to sell milk from cows that took hormones but we weren't allowed to know from the label. Because Monsanto wouldn't allow it.

It's our business what we want to buy or not by. They have no right to refuse us choice. And the corruption cannot be ignored. Monsanto execs appointed to the FDA to make decisions about Monsanto products! hello?

Never underestimate the publics' lack of understanding of science. One would think that people would understand that antibiotics are only effective for bacteria, but then one would think that evolution is the basis of modern biology, and a whole lot of other things that seem to have escaped the public at large.

But that is your opinion. And you have already decided that anyone who is opposed to eating gmo's is wrong, regardless of their reason.
