    Engine whining while in reverse

    Just found an interesting article explaining why most cars make high-pitched engine noises when driven in reverse - but not when driving forward.

    Speaking as someone who doesn't know much about cars, the explanation is fascinating, and well-presented. It's also the same reason that racing cars DO make that noise when driving forward.

    Not an issue in a CVT vehicle like the Toyota Prius. CVT transmissions are capable of going backward as fast as forward and do not have gears.
