Windows 10 Bug Causes Data Loss on Android When Copying Files with File Explorer
    By Bogdan Popa

    http://news.softpedia.com/news/windo...r-517571.shtml

"A bug in Windows 10 causes files copied from one location to another on a PC-connected Android device to vanish completely if the built-in file manager File Explorer is used for the operation."
"So basically, if you connect an Android device to a Windows 10 PC and try to move files with File Explorer from the phone to an SD card or vice-versa, this will result in your data vanishing completely. The transfer appears to be working, but the files do not end up being moved to the destination folder, with no recovery possible for the time being."

Exclamation Windows 7 Still King of the Desktop Despite Windows 10 Creators Update Launch

And perhaps this is why so many still prefer to go with Windows 7 or another version. Windows 10 still is apparently experiencing problems that need to be worked out.

Windows 7 Still King of the Desktop Despite Windows 10 Creators Update Launch
    By Bogdan Popa

    http://news.softpedia.com/news/windo...h-517582.shtml

"Windows 7 continues to be the most used desktop operating system worldwide, despite Microsoft’s aggressive Windows 10 push and the complete rollout of the Creators Update."
"Microsoft started shipping the Windows 10 Creators Update, also known as Redstone 2, in April this year as a staged release, and after several months of dealing with compatibility issues and bugs, the company finally confirmed all eligible computers can download and install the new version."
"Market research firm NetMarketShare puts Windows 7 on the first place of desktop operating systems with 48.43 percent, while Windows 10 is the runner-up with 27.99 percent."

Facebook Plans Premium WhatsApp Features, Doesn’t Rule Out Ads for Free Users
    By Bogdan Popa

    http://news.softpedia.com/news/faceb...s-517617.shtml

"We want to put a basic foundation in place to allow people to message businesses and for them to get the responses that they want. We do intend on charging businesses in the future,” WhatsApp's chief operating officer, Matt Idema, was quoted as saying by FoxBusiness."
"One particular area of focus is how to make money out of WhatsApp running on consumer devices. It turns out that Facebook is currently considering bringing ads for free users as well, though a decision in this regard is yet to be made."

"Microsoft will release the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update on October 17 and one of the key security features for enterprises will be Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP), which further enhances the shield against cyberattacks with better detection, more response capabilities, and updated analytics."
"Today, Microsoft officially announced a public preview of Windows Defender ATP in anticipation of the debut of the Fall Creators Update, giving interested customers the chance to try it out to decide whether this is something that could come in handy to their organization."
"The list of improvements coming to the Windows Defender ATP is huge and it all starts with an improved console that mixes security alerts from all Windows security features, including Windows Defender Antivirus, Windows Defender Firewall, SmartScreen, Device Guard, and Exploit Guard."

Exclamation Phone Struck by Lightning in Owner’s Pocket, Explosion Burns His Private Parts

This calls into question batteries that overheat as the report indicates. How many take the time to check to see if their device is overheating and then take measures to ameliorate that situation?

Phone Struck by Lightning in Owner’s Pocket, Explosion Burns His Private Parts
    By Bogdan Popa

    http://news.softpedia.com/news/phone...s-517684.shtml

"Instead, the device, whose brand and model were not disclosed, exploded after being struck by lightning while in the owner’s pocket, catching fire and causing a small blast that burned the man’s private parts."
"Phone explosions, however, are becoming more of a common thing, in most of the cases due to overheating that takes place in the battery compartment. South Korean manufacturer Samsung was forced to recall the entire Galaxy Note 7 lineup of devices last year after it discovered battery issues, which in some cases caused overheating and consequently small fires."

Just to be on the safe side, I suppose that one should remember to remove any battery powered devices from their pockets prior to being struck by lightening?

That's actually a great idea! Also, they should get into the habit of turning off their devices when they are not talking on them. After all, they can always go to VM later on to see if anyone called. Keeping them close to one's body increases the radiation that such devices emit that could be harmful to the human body as has been reported.

Exclamation Microsoft Releases Security Updates to Fix 38 Windows Vulnerabilities

With so many cyber-threats including ransomware attacks, malware, viruses, etc. one needs to keep their computer defenses and shields up at all times! This report provides information on what is being offered by Microsoft.

Microsoft Releases Security Updates to Fix 38 Windows Vulnerabilities
    By Bogdan Popa

    http://news.softpedia.com/news/micro...s-517722.shtml

"The September 2017 Patch Tuesday rollout is kind of huge, as it includes fixes for no less than 81 vulnerabilities, 5 of which have been discovered in Adobe software, which is also patched via Windows Update given the Flash Player comes integrated into Edge and Internet Explorer browsers."
"A total of 27 vulnerabilities have been rated as critical, and 39 of them allow Remote Code Execution, which basically means that an attacker could get control of the unpatched system with a successful exploit."
