    Part of the price of innovation. What drives companies isn't a desire to keep systems clean. It's a desire to have a better product than the competing anti-virus developer.

    Exclamation 85 Infected Android Apps Stealing Social Network Passwords Found on Play Store

    85 Infected Android Apps Stealing Social Network Passwords Found on Play Store
    By Bogdan Popa

    http://news.softpedia.com/news/85-in...e-518984.shtml

    "A total of 85 Android apps were removed from the Google Play Store after it was discovered they were compromised with malware capable of stealing social network passwords from users’ devices."

    "The apps have already been removed from the Google Play Store, and users who think their credentials might have been compromised are recommended to change passwords as soon as possible."

    Have you checked your apps to see if you are one of the ones affected and infected?

    That's why you always pay attention to the permissions an app is requesting when you install.

    Hell, shouldn't even really have Facebook on your phone if you care about privacy (the website is intrusive enough as it is)

    Exclamation Google Researcher Finds Flaw in Pre-Installed Windows 10 Password Manager

    Google Researcher Finds Flaw in Pre-Installed Windows 10 Password Manager
    By Bogdan Popa

    http://<b>http://news.softpedia.com/...9001.shtml</b>

    "Google security researcher Tavis Ormandy, who has previously discovered, reported, and disclosed several major bugs in Windows and its features, came across a new security vulnerability affecting Microsoft users."
    "This time, the flaw exists in the Keeper password manager that comes pre-installed in some Windows 10 versions, with Ormandy explaining that it’s similar to a vulnerability that he discovered in August 2016."
    "Microsoft said it was aware of the issue shortly after Ormandy’s post, explaining that an update for the app was on its way. “We are aware of the report about this third-party app, and the developer is providing updates to protect customers,” a company spokesperson said."

    ================================================== ==

    Windows 10 users need to be aware of this flaw!

    Exclamation Kaspersky Sues US Government Over Antivirus Ban

    Kaspersky Sues US Government Over Antivirus Ban
    By Bogdan Popa

    http://news.softpedia.com/news/kaspe...n-519037.shtml

    "The Kaspersky versus the US saga continues with a new episode, as the Russian security vendor has filed an appeal in federal court to overturn the ban blocking its software from being used on civilian government agencies computers."
    "Kaspersky wants its software on government computers"

    ================================================== ==

    Well first of all, imho, we have to ascertain whether or not there was a legal and binding agreement with the U.S. for the U.S. to use the Russian product exclusively. Obviously, many countries throughout the world that manufacture Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware software products would like for the U.S., the world's richest country, to use their products. That's a foregone conclusion. But does the U.S. have to be forced to do that outside of having a legal contract with them?

    The court(s) will now obviously have to take that matter up and decide that issue and other factors involved in order to provide justice to the situation.

    Exclamation This Is Your Last Chance to Upgrade to Windows 10 for Free

    This Is Your Last Chance to Upgrade to Windows 10 for Free
    By Bogdan Popa

    "Earlier this year, however, Microsoft finally announced that it would be closing this loophole on December 31, so this is pretty much your last chance to upgrade to Windows 10 at no cost."
    "It goes without saying that whoever wanted to upgrade to Windows 10 should have done this by now, but given that no other way to get the operating system at no charge is known at this point, users who are still on Windows 7 and 8.1 should think twice if they want to skip this offer or not."
    "For what it’s worth, Windows 10 can be purchased from the Microsoft Store in the United States for $119.99 if you choose the Home SKU or for $199.99 if you go for the Pro version."

    ================================================== ==

    So there you go. There have been stories, however, about people upgrading to Windows 10 and the drivers causing problems or conflicts thereafter, etc. so that is something to keep in mind. But you have a choice now before the free offer runs out. Many are however, still keeping their older OS as they find that to be adequate enough for their use and purposes.

    I am on my second IPad. Have had no problem,except for their spell check that does weird things. I would not hanything else.

    Their updates can be annoying.

    Have my new Jitterbug,laugh if you want, but does everything the high priced ones do. Just like my IPad.

    Exclamation Windows 10 Still Available for Free

    Windows 10 Still Available for Free
    By Bogdan Popa

    "Microsoft was supposed to end the free Windows 10 upgrade offer for users with assistive technologies on December 31, but it looks like the loophole still exists, allowing pretty much anyone to install the latest operating system without paying."
    "Today, however, the upgrade is still available, and Ghacks writes that using the loophole indeed works, allowing a free install of Windows 10 when switching from Windows 7 and 8.1."
    "Most likely, Microsoft will block upgrades in the coming days as engineers return to work from the holiday vacation, but for users, this means they have a few more hours to switch to Windows 10 should they want to do it without paying extra."

    An update on the Windows 10 download for anyone who may be interested. But bear in mind that the older drivers may not always be compatible with the newer OS.

    If I might add something guys...

    Watch out for those "Free Driver Update" sites, and some of them look just like the Microsoft site...

    I'm sure many are aware of these kind of things, but like a lot of other "free services" it will scan your system, probably won't be able to update anything, and you'll be left with a start-up cookie or daily pop-up cookie for the rest of your computer's life... (and I wish these dumb-ass companies would realize that this kind of "pester" practice does not "endear" people to the company.. quite the opposite. (and, there ought'a be a law, damn-it!))

    And if anyone knows how to get rid of these, (without having to do a "free register scan") it would be greatly appreciated.

    It's the kind of thing you know you shouldn't do, but somehow end up doing... you hope "this one will be different."

    Just make double-sure the site is actually Microsoft etc, the last one I tried said Microsoft, had their logo, looked like their site, but I bet none of that is illegal, so do the search yourself and make sure it's legit!

    And thank you @DemoWhip for this thread!

    Thx
