    Exclamation Mac Feature Can Be Hijacked to Spy on Users

    Mac Feature Can Be Hijacked to Spy on Users
    By Bogdan Popa

    "Security researcher Felix Krause has discovered a macOS vulnerability that allows cybercriminals to take screenshots of the screen activity and then turn to apps featuring OCR to read the text."
    "The researcher says a potential attacker could get access to all connected monitors, and could eventually be able to read passwords and keys from apps like password managers."

    APPLE MAC Users BEWARE! This is good information to be aware of.

    In the future when I have to upgrade computers, I will be installing a Unix operating system. Windows peaked at XP and went in freefall since.

    I still use XP, 7 and Lotus Smartsuite.

    Exclamation User Sues Microsoft Over Windows 10 Upgrade, Wants Windows 7 Back or $600M

    User Sues Microsoft Over Windows 10 Upgrade, Wants Windows 7 Back or $600M
    By Bogdan Popa

    "Forced Windows 10 upgrades are still causing trouble for Microsoft, and now a former Windows 7 user from Albuquerque, New Mexico is suing the company because he wants to go back to his previous operating system."
    "Frank Dickman says his Windows 7 computer was upgraded to Windows 10 automatically, but the new operating system made it completely useless. The lawsuit reveals that the Asus 54L notebook “became non-functional” after the upgrade to Windows 10, and now the man is ready to sue both Microsoft and CEO Satya Nadella unless the company gives him back Windows 7. Or $600 million in damages."

    ================================================== =

    Hey WINDOWS 7 users take note! It would seem to me that MS would just give the gentleman his Windows 7 OS back and maybe even a brand new notebook rather than give him 600 million dollars. But we'll see what transpires in the courts.

    Exclamation Microsoft Blocks Security Updates on Windows 7 Systems Without Antivirus

    Microsoft Blocks Security Updates on Windows 7 Systems Without Antivirus
    By Bogdan Popa

    "Windows 7 computers that arenít running compatible antivirus software no longer receive security updates from Microsoft due to a compatibility issue thatís believed to be causing BSODs."
    "This policy was originally introduced on Windows 10 with the January 2018 cumulative updates. Microsoft required Windows 10 systems to set a dedicated registry key in order to continue receiving security updates, with incompatible antivirus software blocking any patches that the company released."
    "As for the list of security products that might not be supported and thus prevent Windows 7 systems from receiving updates, Microsoft itself doesnít provide any guidance in this regard."

    ================================================== ==

    "Houston we have a problem!" For Windows 7 users that is.

    Exclamation Is Microsoft Getting Ready to Kill Off Windows Media Player?

    Is Microsoft Getting Ready to Kill Off Windows Media Player?
    By Bogdan Popa

    "Windows Media Player appears to be the next name on the list of features to be deprecated from Windows 10, as Microsoft has started pushing users to the Movies & TV UWP app that comes pre-installed on the operating system."
    "As for the retirement of Windows Media Player, the application has barely received any improvements in the last few years, and its demise wouldnít come out of the blue in the first place. Despite still working fine and serving as the daily driver for many users out there, Windows Media Player is more or less an outdated program, so it remains to be seen for how long itíll continue to be available."

    There are many other alternatives to WMP. They work fine and it is just a matter of wanting to read about them and be directed to where they can be found.

    Sorry, that's the one...

    Very light weight, opens most codecs out of the box.

    Exclamation Microsoft Reportedly Forcing Upgrade to Windows 10 Version 1709 on Some PCs

    Microsoft Reportedly Forcing Upgrade to Windows 10 Version 1709 on Some PCs
    Report indicates this happens even with Windows Update turned off, without users being asked for authorization
    By Bogdan Popa

    "If Windows Update is turned off, which means that updates are automatically blocked on a specific computer, the upgrade is said to be performed with the Update Assistant."
    "Upgrading these systems without usersí consent, however, is a strategy that has already backfired for Microsoft, as the company has been sued in the past by customers whose computers installed Windows 10 without authorization."

    ================================================== ==

    Gotta watch those things! Be sure you know what is going into your system and if you've authorized it or not.

    Exclamation Adobe Releases Flash Player 29

    Adobe Releases Flash Player 29
    By Bogdan Popa

    "Adobe has just released a new version of Flash Player, as the company continues addressing security issues ahead of the productís retirement planned for 2020."

    ================================================== ==

    The end is coming fast for Flash Player. Wonder if the replacement will be as effective or even more? Have heard that it is as it is even now being used called HTML5.
