In case anyone is wondering about the reason for the poll, it's that it makes it much easier to respond to someone who might have a computer question by knowing what OS they are using. Many times the person introducing a question or reply forgets to include their OS.

    Exclamation The Cyberwire

With cyber threats running amok these days, we need to be ever alert and vigilant about that important matter!

The following website contains a wealth of information as well as reports on many world countries that have faced cyber threats.

    current issue – 6.1.17

    https://thecyberwire.com/current.html

"THE CYBERWIRE (Thursday, June 1, 2017)—An XData ransomware decryptor is out (bravo, Kaspersky), as is one for AES_NI ransomware (bravo, Avast)."
"Netcraft says hackers romped freely in a Stanford University website for months, with phishing, defacement, etc. enabled through a PHP webshell in a top-level directory. All's now said to be cleaned up."

Exclamation Google Says 42 Android Devices Are Running the Latest Security Updates

This great report is about Google and Android with updates dealing with security. Do you have one of these devices?

Google Says 42 Android Devices Are Running the Latest Security Updates
    By Gabriela Vatu

"Security is of utmost importance even when it comes to mobile devices, so Google has published a list of 42 Android devices whose users are running security updates published in the past two months."
"According to the company, most of the users of these devices have run the updates, with most of the phones being made by Samsung; 14 to be more specific, including the Galaxy S8+, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S7 Edge, and others. Additionally, there are also devices from LG, Motorola, Vivo, Sony and Google itself, but that last one was to be expected since updates are first delivered to the company's own devices."

I'm still running Windows 7. I've nothing against Windows 10 - but I have no reason to think I'd benefit from the upgrade, and any OS upgrade entails an element of risk. I just don't see anything in Windows 10 that justifies the risk.

Someday, I'll get a new computer, and it will have Windows 10. But until then, I'm sticking with Windows 7.

One precaution I take with my phone is to back everything up to a flash drive. I have cloud backup too but I don't necessarily trust that.

It's ALWAYS a good thing to back-up your system no matter what it is be it computer, phone or other especially now in these days of cyberthreats and ransomware! One mustn't be careless in that regard or the evil forces that be could take the best of you and your system!
