I should also say that I'm a technology purist, so my opinion on tech should be taken with a grain of salt. I believe that technology was suppose to enhance our lives and make common tasks more simpler. The reality is technology as used today is commonly just to make corporations rich who sell you the same thing over and over, with slight improvement, at a markup... and often is more complicated for the end-user, than simple - and plagued with bugs and shoddy code.
Thanks from boontito and Robert Urbanek

I can see these things going off all over peoples houses everywhere, "it's 11 oclock, do you know where your kids are" and the GPS kicks in to track them. Nope, don't like that idea.

I'm not happy with the amount of data big brother has on me without installing a listening bug in every room as well.

Oh, yeah... none of this stuff is necessary. Some of it I don't want. I like turning my living room lights blue though sometimes.

    Or green.

I'd have a smart house if I could. To mine, a programmable thermostat has to suffice, and I do like it. I don't need the heat on when I sleep, but I like it to warm up before I am expected to wake up!

I saw someone just recently, a woman doing a "dial" of phone (rotary) kind of motion to make a point. It was in front of 20 something year old--they had NO idea what she was talking about.

The inline Sonoff switches are compatible with iPhone and Alexa. They are very inexpensive and can be used to control anything that plugs in. I bought mine for about $5 a piece. Installing them is very easy, really almost impossible to screw up.
