    Sleep Tracking

Last night was my first night on my new mattress with the Eight Sleep technology. There is no doubt that I love gadgets. Smart home technology and integration is right up my alley. The last few years, I have used my Apple Watch to track my sleep, but then I have to find another time to charge it. I've used my iPhone to track my sleep, but then I have to make sure to place it right on the bed and not knock it off. I've used my Fitbit Blaze to track my sleep but then I have to remember to wear it and charge it a different time. Building the technology into the mattress was ingenious.

Eight tracks sleep for each side of the bed. It keeps track of how many times you toss and turn, what phase of sleep you are in, your heartbeat, and respiration. It tracks the temperature of your bedroom and your bed. That's a lot of data. Of course, it works with Alexa. It can also be used to integrate with IFTTT. For those that do not know, IFTTT is a technology called If This Then That. How can that be used to integrate? What about changing the temperature of your house after you are asleep? What about turning off the television after you are asleep? How about making the coffee in the morning when you wake up? In my case, I have IFTTT sending me a notification with the weather outside, and turning on the outside lights. I go for a morning walk each morning at 4:15 on weekdays and 5:15 on weekends.

I am sure some people here are using sleep trackers. What are you using? Has tracking your sleep caused you to make any changes?

    Thanks from Puzzling Evidence

Yes, my tracker = I get sleepy and I fall asleep. I’ve gotten enough rest and I wake up. Works all the time, cost to run zero. Completely portable anywhere in the world.

I used that tracker for years. Someone would ask how I slept, and I really wouldn't know. In management, we have a axiom, if you can't measure it, you can't manage it. When I first started tracking my sleep, I discovered that I was waking up at a certain time every night. It was odd, until I figured out that coincidentally there was a notification that hit my cell phone at that same time. Now, I have my iPhone in Do Not Disturb mode from 9 PM until 4 AM. All those pesky notifications are muted.
