    Waze and Android Auto

Any of you use waze on android? I recently switched from an iphone because I can get waze right on my dash, straight up game changed. The issue I am having is that suddenly the voice commands for things like spotify stopped working.

anyone have any experience here? Android seems to have better technology that doesn't work the way it should compared to apple.

I don't know which android phone you are referring to, but with Samsung, if you go to settings > Language and input > Voice recognizer
and make sure to choose "Google", and not the Samsung default. The Samsung software causes a lot of problems with bluetooth and voice commands.

I enjoy the hell out of Waze, problem is, I use my phone as a phone a lot on my job and can't tie it up as a GPS. I wish I could put Waze on a designated Tom Tom, thus far, I got NUTIN.

Waze is up to date with traffic conditions, notifies if cops up ahead, red light camera intersections, stopped vehicles on shoulder. I donít know if the other is the same. Never used anything but waze. Never used Spotify or iPhone always on an android.

I have it on the dash now, and it's great, well it's still great everything else is a problem. I could voice to sms, change music, directions et al, it was great, until the voice to change spotify etc stopped working.

Spotify is a music app. Waze works fine. I was an early adopter, beta tester, as well as "royalty" lol. android auto with putting waze right on the trucks head unit was a game changer as well as being able to tell google to play specific songs on spotify, play music, etc.....

That made it better than apple, as apple limits you to it's apps for voice control.

Well it was until it just stopped working right.

I have not downloaded Waze, and hate using any app that gives voice commands of where to turn and such like that. I have used the one that comes with the phone*, and the voice interrupts my music and just generally bugs the crap out of me. I simply look at the map and determine how to get where I want to go - including alternate routes in case of traffic or whatever. It has not failed me yet (although having said that, Murphy's Law will now kick in ).

    * I currently have a Samsung J3 Eclipse. My phone before that was a Galaxy3, and before that a Galaxy.

With Waze you van turn off voice prompts to where it simply beeps, or remains silent. I use the beeps. it does not interrupt the music at all. You really should try it sometime.

It live updates your route based on traffic conditions it detects from other users. That's key around here.

When I say "interrupts the music" I don't mean to say I'm listening to music on my phone while driving. I'm using the radio, CD player or cassette player. The music doesn't stop, but my listening is interrupted. I'm really into music (used to be a professional), and when I've got a song or symphony or something playing, I don't want to hear something else.

I understand; I've seen it in action (while riding with someone else). So I might try it someday for that. But so far I have had no need.
