I would think it's a lot smaller than it used to be.

    Certainly less acceptable.

    In THIS country, anyway...

Exactly my point. People who wear REAL fur, fur that once came from a once-living animal, are nowadays considered to be borderline barbaric. The same will eventually be true of those who eat meat that once came from a living animal.

    Most important question:

How will it taste hot off the charcoal grill?
There is every reason to believe that the synthetic meat of the future will not only be healthier than the meat of today, but probably cheaper----because it will be mass-produced-----AND better-tasting, than the meat we have today.

Why better-tasting? Because we are coming to scientifically UNDERSTAND what it is about meat that makes it so delicious to human beings, and there is no reason to think that we can't improve upon Mother Nature once we arrive at a full understanding. In fact, some food and nutrition specialists even think it possible that we might invent flavors that NO human being has ever tasted before----and might possibly find delicious. Just as we might be able to extend other human senses, such as coming up with artificial eyes that would allow us to see in the ultra-violet and in the infra-red.....or ears that can hear frequencies that now only elephants and mice can hear.

It's a science fiction world we are living in.
    Thanks from Ian Jeffrey

Nah, it'll still taste like chicken.

If you are going to eat synthetic food, why not eat something that tastes better than hamburger? Like synthetic protein that tastes like cheesecake.

It all depends on what it tastes like. If it tastes as good as beef, then I'm eating it. If it tastes as good as chicken, I'm on board.

When you're in the mood for meat, cheesecake is NOT what you want to taste. Humans are omnivores, but that means we are, in part, carnivores. We like a big hunk of meat seared over an open fire. Goes back to our caveman days. THAT is NOT going to change.

There is no such thing as "better than hamburger."

I would be ok with this, too. And if it's not dairy, I could eat it after having real hamburger, too!
