Finally humanity can reach the end of historyŚcomplete isolation from all other humans.

I went to 7-11 type chain with a deli and they have touchscreens from which to place your order. Even though there was no one ahead of me, when I walked up to the counter and asked for a ham and cheese with lettuce and tomato mayo and mustard, without saying a word the sandwich guy pointed to the screen. I silently went over and spent the next couple minutes trying to figure out where the buttons were for the various toppings and so on, and eventually got the order placed. The order then appeared on his screen, and he started making the sandwich. Eventually a computer voice called out my order number and I picked up my sandwich and went to the checkout, which you scan yourself and pay.

    Kind of depressing, really.

Its going to get worse. Young kids today dont want human contact as they have stared into phones their entire lives. We get interns at work and they dont even want to be talked to. We have weekly team meetings and they didnt show up, when they were told, these are mandatory so everyone is on the same page and we can touch base, they said "why cant it be done in an email?"

I have never observed that in any kosher establishment (of which I have been to very few, most outside the area where I live). However, I have not eaten in a non-kosher restaurant for something like six years, so maybe it has changed.

Spyce Restaurant menu is at this link. The bowls are $7.50 each. They have 43 reviews on Yelp and a 4 star rating. These ratings include 2 one star ratings, 1 two star rating, 11 three star ratings, 5 four star ratings, 24 five star ratings.

It's pretty common in most young people, and not just in the restaurant business.

They can't (or won't) even drive a car without their phones!!!

I even had a middle aged co-worker fired a few years ago because he was caught repeatedly on his phone instead of doing his job.

And, he was a good worker!

Just could NOT stay off his phone.
    Thanks from Ian Jeffrey

Every chef and restaurant owner / critic will tell you, the secret of success in the restaurant business is not being able to cook well, or even outstanding, it's the ability to repeat the same dish, the same way, over and over again.. consistency.

And as sad as it is.. once the process is automated, and the recipes figured out, a robot will have a huge advantage towards any human in that regard of consistency.

Yet i don't think that they will start there, bus boys etc., probably will be replaced first.

This is why many top restaurants use sous vide precision cooking to cook their meat. Consistency.

Last Sunday I took my husband to McDonald's and there was line for the one cashier that's now open and there are 4 kiosks. I refused to use the kiosk and the woman in front of me refused and the person behind. And the girl trying to direct us all to the kiosk was like, "Wow. No one will use the kiosk." LOL
