I definitely think thats a part of it, we have taken the human out of it. If we see little else but screens all our lives, why would have feelings or empathy?

I prefer real people too but I have noticed my kids and their friends head for the kiosks or self checkouts first. Never a human. I joke with them and say they are putting themselves out of a job someday and they roll their eyes!

At the supermarket, sometimes I go for self-checkout, and sometimes for the person. It depends on how much I have, and to some degree what I have. But it is merely a practical question. If I had to go all self-checkout, it would work out fine.

I'm not afraid of technology. I just hate doing some of the work and still have to pay full price.

That machine isn't preparing a meal. That's no more high tech than is a Dominoes Pizza automated pizza baker. Humans still have to prepare the food before it is loaded into the machine. They still have to finish preparing the cooked food after it is taken from the machine. I'm not particularly impressed with this level of automation. It's mostly just a gimmick.

Self checkout is a hassle if you have very many items, because there is insufficient space to accumulate bagged items as you empty your cart to ring up your purchases. They cram the things too closely together. Therefore, you're actually more likely to make physical contact with other people in the self checkout than if you go through a standard checkout register.

You would hate the restaurant "The Melting Pot" It is a fondue restaurant where you cook your own foods. I like that place because it entertains me during dinner.

If I have coupons, I usually look for a human checker, because I have had occasions when I cannot get the self-checkout register to accept a valid coupon, and then it becomes a pain in the ass.

I'm not afraid of technology. I just don't want them to clone Donald Trump.

Or Gilbert Gottfried, either. That guy is SOOO annoying!
