So is intelligence. Well, maybe not subjective, but it has a lot of variations. Emotional intelligence, technical, strategic, academic, numerical, situational awareness, relational, influential and many more. The idea that there is one intelligence reservoir that can power all these forms of action is flawed. In evaluating candidates for positions, you often have to find complementary forms of intelligence to make a fit. The big picture strategist at a CEO level often needs a more technically and execution oriented right hand person. But if you are at the head of a research lab, you might need supplementary abilities more, someone who is like the head, but has a different knowledge base.
