BTW, Hollywood fucked up male sex appeal as well, IMO. I lusted after Robert Mitchum, Burt Lancaster and Cary Grant.

My kid lusted after Johnny Depp in HS, in the 1990's, because she thought he looked "pathetic".

No good came of THAT attitude about how men are supposed to behave, Lol.

She has long since gotten over it.

Even so....imagine trying to persuade Burt Lancaster to wear glittered body lotion, a la that "Twilight" series?

Bradley Cooper is the other side of the Romance.

Also has Robert DeNireo, and (a very AGED) Chris Tucker (That dude has put on some weight, and looks completely different. You will know him by his voice, though....)
    Thanks from Madeline

    Welcome to my ignore list.

God help the women you interact with IRL. What a nasty, sexist manner you have shown here on PH. If that is your actual personality, you are a danger to others.

But I suspect you just enjoy acting like an asshole on PH.

Ain't nobody got time for that.
Good, the less bitching I get from you the better.

    Oh and, pot meet kettle.

What would be the statute of limitations when it comes to mocking any of the Kennedy's?

Dunno Chris Tucker or Bradley Cooper.

Apparently I am a pop culture idiot......I have a cornucopia of viewing choices these days, and I guess I don't watch a lot of movies made in this decade.

Must make more of an effort, I suppose.

This is a thread in the Sexuality Forum, meant to explore the present-day impact of Hollywood's extreme sexism in the 1940's and 1950's. If someone wishes to trash Marilyn Monroe, for whatever reason, this is the wrong choice of thread for that purpose.

I'd like to dig Teddy up and bash his face in a few thousand times.

Not a fan of the clan, overall.

I was never that big of a fan of hers.

I mean, I can see why she was a huge sex symbol, but....I think Betty Page was MORE beautiful (She was just a pin up girl, though)

Jane Mansfield was, in my opinion, both better looking and a better actress. (But another who was largely seen only as a sex symbol)

LOVED Doris Day! (She seemed "spunky!" NOT in a purely sexual manner, but, in personality)

Shirely McClain is a strange agent, but, I loved her (Really as an older actress, than younger.....)

Elizabeth Taylor.....there will NEVER be another Elizabeth Taylor!!!

Katheryn Hepburn....sweated class and grace (AND strength....she would be a female action star, today!)

Audrey Hepburn.......DAMN, but she was gorgeous and glamorous!!!!
    Thanks from Madeline

Chris Tucker is a comedian (Best known for his role as "Smokey" in "Friday," a funny as hell, but somewhat stereotypical Black Comedy. A young Ice Cube does his typical great job as being the "typical cool dude...")

You will likely recognize Bradley Cooper. (He was from the Hangover, and was also in American Hustle....) Women think he's dreamy......

ANOTHER wonderful romantic comedy (perhaps the absolute BEST, in my opinion...), is "Crazy, Stupid Love." Absolutely fantastic cast, and every character is funny, endearing, and very....human......
    Thanks from Madeline

But Sophia Loren was so unique looking.....I don't think I have ever seen a Jane Mansfield movie. Which is your favorite?

So many gorgeous, brilliant female actors and ALL of them are "fat" by today's standards.

It's such an assault on young girls in this country, and on the boys who will one day date them.

Women are not meant to be emaciated.

My kid watched a lot of old movies with me, growing up. We talked about this, and I think it helped.
