Harvey Weinstein'S Ginormous Sexual Harassment Problem

Harvey Weinstein is the modern-day equivalent of Louie B. Mayer, etc. A real movie mogul, founder of Miramax Films and considered to be the single biggest influence on the selection of Oscar winners in recent years. The NYT just published a long article about his work relationships which resulted in accusations (and often settlements) of sexual harassment, including ones made by actor Ashley Judd.

If you cannot open the linked article, you can read an analysis of it here:

It is now revealed that he has been working with lawyer Lisa Bloom for more than a year, and that he intends to take a leave of absence whilst making other forms of atonement towards the "people he has hurt". Sexism is so deeply embedded in the entertainment industry, I doubt there's anyone remotely connected to his company or its films that HASN'T been harmed.

Why are we not talking about this? Where's the red hot anger that was displayed around here when FOX News' Roger Ailes was forced to resign? Is this man getting a pass from PH liberals because he is a longtime Hillarybot, and has raised millions for her?

I smell the rancid odor of hypocrisy. Hopefully, I am wrong-o.

Yeah I read this earlier and was going to make a thread but the liberals would just ignore it.

They want this to go away as quickly as possible.

Its one of their guys so they don't want to discuss it.

What's funny is he's not even denying it happened, just saying he's going to get help.
    Thanks from Madeline

It's a slick strategy, though I can't say I am thrilled Lisa Bloom is helping him. She's supposed to be a champion for feminism.

    He is rich.

I notice values go out the window if there is a big paycheck involved.

Sometimes they go out the window for little as the price of a fare on public transport.

Perhaps the lack of outrage is owing to not many knowing who he is? I mean, I knew he produced some films I love (Tarentino's corpus for a start), but other than that, I was unaware of the scandal. The entertainment industry is a bastion of sexism, and it is about time this is addressed. Rolf Harris is paying for this as we speak (or write), with he and many others 'exposed' when Jimmy Savile died. The 'casting couch culture' has come to back to bite a lot of people recently, and so it should.

Now, if they go after Rock bands of the '60's - current, a lot of people will be in deep trouble.

His problem is that the allegations are public. His believed victims settled out of court.

No one...that I am aware of has sworn out a criminal complaints against Weinstein.

Hollywood will believe Ashley Judd and Harvey will lose his uber prestige. Harvey may not go to jail...but his career is essentially over.

He'll be accepted like Woody Allen. Recognized for his talent...but no one wants him at their party or function.
