Prison guards know when any inmate has a court date and why. They talk. Prisoners talk. You're still going to be housed in the men's prison until you can prove yourself to a judge.

You're still going to have to deal with the guards, who now know your intentions.

You're going to have to deal with your fellow prisoners, who now also know.

You're still going to have to go to the yard.

You're still going to have to take showers.

All I'm saying is, good luck with your ruse. I hope it works out for you.
It would seem to me, regardless if it may be a male or female prison, those actions and factors will exist and not embraced by the general population of either. In our current environment, perhaps, regardless of the prison, for their protection, it is not a good idea to house a transgender in the general population.

If the courts side with her that may effectively allow any male to claim to be TG and be housed with women.

If you don't think they will try it you would be fooling yourself.
"Any male?" According to your OP, the woman has been undergoing hormonal treatments for almost four decades. I seriously doubt that "any male" can make similar claims.

Should we allow prisoners to decide if they want to be housed in a woman's facility is the basic question here.

I think if this is an option that most guys are going to claim to be TG just to avoid the rape in male prisons.

The abuse this could cause for the females in women prison can't be underestimated.

Anybody can pretty much sue for anything.

    Doesn't mean its going anywhere.

Have not read all the links in the thread.

Does the prisoner in question have a penis??

Suspect that may be a key variable in the final placement decision.

Certainly one should expect that while incarcerated, even precaution should be made to provide the inmate with the highest level of personal protection.
    Mr. Myself,

But on the plus side, her dance card will be filled every night....

Really? If that is a plus, why don't you go to prison and be forced to have sex with men?

Usually that amounts to throwing them in solitary for most of the time they are incarcerated.

    Mr. myself,

I'm a law abiding citizen. Why would I go to prison?

See how silly your post sounds when you put it in perspective?

Doesn't matter. I don't have one. One year ago I did. So what's the difference? My identity has not changed. My character has not changed. My sexual orientation has not changed. So why am I suddenly ok to be treated as a woman when I wasn't before?

Genitalia has exactly zero to do with gender identity.

If tomorrow you had some sort of accident and you lost your penis would you immediately file the court paperwork to transition as a woman?

Of course you wouldn't. Why wouldn't you?

Because your genitalia has nothing to do with how you feel inside, how you fit into the world around you.

All of this is silly when you put it into perspective. The problem is, many of you are incapable of doing so.
