Having been in the Marine Corps, I can understand why the old fashioned leaders of the military would want a no homosexual policy.

But I don't agree with it. Condemning a person for race, gender, or sexual orientation just breeds hate and intolerance. Something that there is too much of in this world.

I've heard all kinds of arguments for keeping DADT, all of them bad. But just a few decades ago people were making arguments about not letting gay people in the military at all. And before that if the military found out a member was gay they threw'em in prison for about 5 years.

My only point here is that DADT seems really silly, but we (the United States) have come a long way from where we were.

Maybe gays who are in the military are different than those I know. I have been in theatre since I was 13. And truth be known I have more gay male friends than straight male friends (I don't get along with males that well) and although I am not cute by any means. I have never known any to pursue a straight man. Oh and btw thank you for your service.

Still one of my favorite movies of all time.

One of the most self-defeating policies I've ever heard of. Why get rid of soldiers that are good and useful? Why does their sexual orientation matter so much?
